Recently became interested in the .260 rem as a mid-long range tactical/hunting rig. What rate of twist is most commonly used and with what bullet selection? Any info on barrel length and velocity would also be appreciated. Thanks for any help you can provide.

1-8 or 1-8.5 will be good for 130's to 142's. I run a 1-8 and have been running the 130 Bergers since day one but, as of late, the 139 Scenars have been stellar.

ntnsurf,

If you go to the Berger bullet page, and look at their 6.5mm twist recommendations, for all their bullet weights 130 grains and above, they recommend a 1-8" twist.

Berger bullets may not be your thing, but a 1-8" seems like sound advise.

Go 8". I use it in my 6.5 Creedmoor with the 140 MAAX and it works very well.
