If you guys can't stop being assholes in the police and political posts, I will reinstate the ban on all Political discussion

If you don't realize we have an active LE Community on here and want to attack the police officers doing their work, leave.

Any more reports about the out of control bullshit being spewed in the bear pit and I am gonna go on a banning spree

I am gonna start banning them,

If guys cannot understand where they are, and who the audience is, leave.

It's hard enough to be attacked on places like Huffpo, but to come here and have to put up with it, time to give these threads the dirt nap and put the offenders on permanent vacation from the site

    Oh and PS

The report button is not for Hurt Feelings ... if you cannot handle the conversation stay out of the discussion.

Lot's of reports, with "I don't like" what I am reading, especially the Bear Pit and Bar, these are two areas we allow people to outside the lines if you cannot handle someone coloring outside the lines stay away from those topics.

We allow semi-nude pictures, we allow profanity, we allow pretty much everything you see or saw in the barracks, just in a few areas to allow the members to get their rants on. So get over yourself, these are no Snowflake zones

    Amen to that man!

I come here to get away from all of the snowflakery that I have to deal with every day. Nobody is being forced at gunpoint to view or participate in threads. This is akin to good old fashioned hunting cabin talk. You got to have a grown man's pair if you want to fit in an environment of whiskey, wood smoke and venison. No soy lattes or bubble tea being served here.

Freakin’ THANK YOU for stating this, even though it should be glaringly obvious. This seems to be a very difficult concept for people to grasp these days. If you don’t like it, don’t click on the thread or hit the back button and go elsewhere. If someone really bugs you that much, us the ignore feature. It works, I promise. But please, for the love of all things holy, act like an adult. Too many whiny babies around these days. Maybe Dwight’s right, we need a new plague...

I personally enjoy cop threads, especially when folks like @Slash0311, @Dthomas3523, etc weigh in.

I'd hate to see opportunities like that fade away because some people don't know how to have a conversation.

There's a difference between having a discussion, and spewing wishes of death. I get that some people don't like cops at all. But some of the people here make me raise my eyebrows at what they post.

I'm a reasonable guy and I really try to get that across in my postings. After having been a police officer for a local municipality in Los Angeles County for a decade, I've either seen or heard of my share of cops doing, unconstitutional, constitutionally questionable, or unlawful things. It's terrible and if the situation calls for it, yes there should be an investigation and prosecution of the involved officers/deputies. I don't think anyone could dispute that.

But, to use individual situations of police corruption or criminal activity to paint all of us as criminals and corrupt is completely unreasonable. It drives me absolutely insane when people make blanket statements akin to "all cops lie..." etc, because over 99% of us are really trying to do everything right. There are 1,000,000 different types of situations we can encounter on any given shift at work, and there are 100 different ways to approach each situation. Believe it, or not, honest mistakes happen.

There's dumbasses all over that make blanket statements about pretty much every other identity group, be it cops, lawyers, judges, white people, not white people, women, not women, homo hetero or toaster sexuals, gun owners, non-gun owners, commies, non commies, and so on ad infinitum.

What we're seeing with legislation and community moderation all over the place, though, is that because some dumbshit fucksticks exist in this world, we just can't do those things anymore. I'd much rather the dumbshit fucksticks be squelched than everyone being squelched.

Furthermore, I don't think people should take that sort of nonsensery personally, and come to terms with the fact that this planet is populated by idiots that don't know shit but will run their mouths all day long if given the opportunity. It's just a fact of life, kinda like mosquitoes and fire ants in the South.

My $0.02 on the matter, anyway.

Point in case - Shooting on public land. You used to be able to shoot for fun in Sam Houston National Forest, but because people are fucking idiots and leave their shit everywhere (e.g., not packing out what they packed in), they stopped allowing that.

FUCK those people. Make being a dipshit a capital offense.

    Well stated!

I agree. I can debate with anyone and we don't have to end up agreeing. But far too many want to lump every officer into a "bad" category. WHICH is exactly what gun owners fight every time a nut job makes headlines. There are good cops working every day to do the best we can. But there are also bad cops putting a blemish on the badge.

Don't condemn all, because of very few.

I was just about to say that CLCs comments about blanket statements towards cops was a perfect representation of what the gov does to gun owners. You beat me to it. I think we are all tired of being painted with a broad brush. I have no idea how to fix it.

I’ve noticed a really odd phenomenon.......

When you either A) don’t or B) stop breaking the law.......you’ll damn near guarantee you’ll never see me again.

Cop haters are about the only people on the planet who can do two easy things to never see the people they hate.......ever again.

    C) Report a crime or suspicious activity.
    D) become involved in a traffic accident.
    E) drive from point A to point B when point A.1 has a checkpoint.

If you find that a majority of those encounters the cop treats you in a way you feel like is not up to your standards, you may want to take a look at who the real asshole is.

I agree with a ban on both topics. As someone with a number of family members on th StLPD I understand how tough that job is and really don’t appreciate the bashing. And while I agree gun and politics are hard to separate in this country, the topic usually degenerates into personal attacks instead of debate.

I do have some blank hurt feelings reports If anyone needs them? You might have to find where to send them. Just don't ask HMIC probably not a good time.

Not here, it doesn't... Unless some statist asshole mouths off, of course.

In which case, what's wrong with that?

I see no reason to bad mouth the LEO's on a regular basis.........The majority of our law enforcement friends are straight up people, that do their best to do the job they were trained, and signed up to do.

That also goes for all of our military personnel................99.99% of these people are 100% about doing their job.............there is always that 0.01%, that are the shit birds.............you know it happens, Frank knows it happens..............

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a problem with people bitching about this 0.01%................leave the good guys alone...........if you whine and bitch about a ticket for something you got caught doing.............don't do it..........

As far as the politics go, well my opinion is whatever you can get away with.............F the snow flakes............

As far as the reports go..........sorry your butt hurts...........if the thread upsets you............go away.........

I support the laws, or most of them, and thus the officers who enforce that law. Are all the laws good? No. Are all LEO's good? No. there are rotten apples in every barrel and there is a place for reasonable criticism. Thats what freedom is all about. No one hates a cop who abuses or mis uses his authority, more than me. When it reaches the proportions of hate Ive seen here its flat out wrong. To quote 1911 above "to use individual situations of police corruption or criminal activity to paint all of us as criminals and corrupt is completely unreasonable. " Now, thanks to those few assholes, we cant even have a reasonable discussion anymore. To the LEO here, Be careful, come home tonight.

    Maggot out

I don't think outright banning politics or police discussions would benefit the site in the long run. After all, these two topics are integral to gun rights issues. And besides, it is the wide variety of topics being discussed here that makes it interesting, attractive to forum participants and encourage others to join up and take part.

The point is to engage in CIVIL discussions. I have been active in threads involving sensitive subjects since I joined and I always try to lay out a template, whenever I post, for discussions that have educational value both for us here and the thousands of people on the Internet that pass through here every day. These discussions have the potential to generate a lot of awareness and learning. The point is to do it with a cool head in mind.

The forums are always maintained and watched. If in case a thread starts to slip off the road, it can readily be locked and the offending posts be removed, as opposed to the entire thread being zapped.
