I am working on my first full on centerfire custom rifle. But if I could only have one....... I would kill myself! (or at least think about it)

Yea what they said. I think my vote would be for the 6.5 flavor. But be careful....One 6.5 leads to another. I have a 6.5-06 ackley that I wish would last longer than 1500 rounds. every time you pull the trigger you smile then frown. so I GOT THE 6.5X47 so I can shoot 200 rounds ever 2nd or third weekend and not think to myself dang only 700 left before it goes back to the smith. I shoot 20 rounds almost every night out of my .223 it don't hurt at all. so you may want to keep that in mid while choosing the case you put behind the caliber. you may want your custom build to last more than 6 months.

I would want one of those movie gun. You know it will hold a 1000 bullets, shoot the hair off a gnats ass at a mile, only kill the bad guys, internally suppressed, light weight, comes with a good looking girl and fast car........ Just saying

I also say 6.5 something...Good for targets, good for game, easy on the recoil. Not too expensive to reload for, okay barrel life.
I am sure a GAP would be nice, but there are others than do just as good work but in lower quantities.
