The look in this man's eyes is haunting......like he just saw death again.

    Stand at ease, sailor......

Very similar reaction to the ones the guys who were at Ia Drang had when they saw "We Were Soldiers." They did a screening for a group of those guys and interviewed them afterwards. Most were very moved, and astounded at how close it was to reality, except for the smell.

Took a WWII marine vet who fought on Iwo Jima and who I worked with at a air museum to the pre-release screening of Flags of our Fathers. He thought they did a great job on the movie, said it was like being back on that island again. Great guy, some of his stories you could tell still haunted him.

    According to the press

Worked with a guy who was in Vietnam . He definitely wasnt all there . He had supposedly done a few tours . Anyway talkin to him one day we managed to get on the subject of Khe Sahn . He said he was there and fuckin cried every night . Got a really weird far away , blood drained from his face , bug eyed look . It was really creepy . Thought he was gonna check out.
Can't imagine gettin hammered by arti)ery for two months .
Some wounds you can't see .
