Impact Precision Actions

Good to know gonna continue to do some research and see what people have to say about Impact Precision in a few months. So far everything I've read people have been very happy. My understanding is it's a more refined Surgeon. I'd like to see a video of the action timing / running the bolt if anyone has one.
Does anyone know the details about the same guy having input on designing the Surgeon and the Impact Precision?
He is a awesome guy and one of the smartest gun guys you will ever meet.

Will an Impact Action drop into a Manners T4A inletted for a Surgeon 591?
You may have to make room in the bottom for the trigger hanger. The side bolt release will fit, but will be a rectangle in an oval cutout. I found a photo from their IG which appears to be in a Manners inlet for a Surgeon 591.

Impact is a Rem 700 footprint just like the surgeon so yes it will drop in for a surgeon inlet. Only thing you would have to do is make sure the trigger hanger clears and possibly mill it out or Dremel it so it would clear without touching.
With an action wrench, barrel clamp, (and a set of go/no go's for headspace check).
The Impact actions are made with such close spec's that Stuteville/TS Customs/Etc can machine a 'traditional' shouldered barrel without having your receiver in-hand.
This is arguably as easy as many of the recent trendy nuts,clamps, etc but without the ability to do it in the 'field'.
All the lefties are spoken for at this time. There will be another run at some point but we just don’t have a set time frame for when as of right now. You can PM me your name and number and I can have Them put you on the list for a possible back out. No guarantees though bc I know there are a few people already on that list too.
Letting you know that KMW maintains an inventory of a Gen II knob that is a direct fit on the Impact actions. Machined out of stainless and blends beautifully at the stem juncture.
Several have been purchased to be used on builds based on the Impact.
They are extremely good actions and I am happy to have something to help support them with options.

I am really looking at one of these or the nucleus barreled deal they got at PVA. What are the thoughts from you guys. Obviously the price is attractive for the barreled nucleus but what would I be losing out on vs the impact? Your guys’ thought please.
Man I’m pretty partial to Impact and feel like you can’t go wrong with one. Maybe someone else will chime in and give their thoughts as well. I have not seen or felt a nucleus so I can not comment on that action.
Advantages I feel, have been listed above towards the beginning of the thread like the trigger hanger allowing adjustability for sear engagement of different triggers and ease of replacement. Comes Nitrided, integral rail and lug, looks good.
If you read back through a lot of these responses I feel like, the Impact will set itself apart from any action on smoothness of the bolt cycle and timing. The impact will run smooth whether it is clean or dirty as all get out. Just get behind one that’s had a weekend match on it and run it compared to any other and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Another is reliability in match conditions. The Impact has been proving itself for the past couple years in the PRS and NRL as very reliable. A lot of top PRS and NRL shooters are running them. This year Impact shooters have been really putting them at the top at every PRS match this season.
As far as the nucleus only time will tell on it because it’s pretty much unproven at this point and just speculation until it starts getting out there more.
My 2 cents. Hopefully others can give some more insight.
I’ve run my Impacts for over 7,000 rounds of 6BR and 6 Dasher. I’ve yet to have one misfeed or any kind of ejection issue. I’ve run just about any action you can name, and if there’s something smoother and more reliable even when it’s dirty, I’ve yet to try it.
As has been mentioned, these actions have been run for tens of thousands of rounds by some of the best shooters in the country and are a known commodity.

I have an impact and out of boredom put a deposit down on a nucleus but after shooting the impact more and more I’m going to cancel my preorder. The nucleus isn’t even in the same class as the impact just my opinion. Also a ton of shooters shoot 6br or dasher from their impacts including myself, and it feeds and ejects like a dream. U don’t need controlled round feed... push fed actions like the impact work and are proven.
Again my prediction is impact to be the number one action used in the top 100 for 2018
Have you handled a Nucleus and if so, what is it that puts the Impact in a different class? I'm not saying it isn't, as it probably should be for the extra $350. As far as the CRF thing for Dasher goes, I think people are under the impression that mechanical ejection is what helps with BR and Dasher to prevent the brass from getting roughed up upon ejection. It's just that CRF usually goes hand in hand with mechanical ejection, with exceptions like the Atlas Tactical action.
I agree that Impact will have a shot at being the most used action this year. That's due to its quality, feature set, who makes it and who the manufacturer sponsors. I think most people know to not necessarily take the gear usage for the top 100 at face value. Team GAP all use Bushnell scopes, which is an example of how those numbers might be skewed for other parts too based on many factors.

Negative have not handled it... but similarly to comparing the nucleus to the mausingfeld ...completely different class. The mausingfeld is more robust and has features that put it in a different class of quality of action. That comes from ARCs Facebook page when they commented on someone asking about why they would buy a mausingfield over a more affordable nucleus. To each his own.
Anyone reading the Internet opinions and other folklore can believe what they want. I have no ties to the okies and I’m not sponsored by them. I choose to just say that their action really is the smoothest. And btw they don’t sponsor very many shooters .... less than the fingers on my hand.

I actually received my rifle Monday! Same story as the other two in our group, smooth as glass. I love it, I'm glad I held out and waited for it.@Joshpuh:

@Renomd how much lube do you run in your impact? My Accuracy International AX locked up on me during a two day match last weekend due to dust and now I am on the hunt for an action that can be run pretty much dry. My AI wont run with no lube without binding quite a bit.
@Clint E. I run very little lube on mine, just one drop of oil in the raceway groove of the bolt head, and 1/2 a drop each in the rear of the bolt head lug. @jkvinyard and @djarecke can probably give you a better idea as they shoot far more matches than I do.
For what it's worth my AI ran great in dust, sand, and dirt when other super tight tolerance actions were binding... and I did the same lube method as above.

At a match, I usually put a little lube on the rear of the lugs just for the heck of it. At home, I usually put a bit of lube on the bolt, but it doesn't seem to matter. These actions are extremely smooth and I've put tens of thousands of rounds through them and never had an issue. They just work.
The only "mechanical" issue I had was when I took apart the firing pin assembly from the bolt to clean and lube it, and dropped it on the floor. I bent the firing pin, but Wade sent me one the next day. The cool thing about these actions is I just used my other bolt in the mean time with no headspace issues.
At a match, I usually clean the bolt and chamber at the end of the first day just for the heck of it. I'll put a little lube on the rear of the lugs and it's good to go!
I have been unsuccessful at getting my impact to bind up. even with all kinds of nasty stuff in the action, it still seems to run smooth.
I've probably seen just as many AI's go down in matches as any other action type - so I'm really not surprised to hear that. They are definitely not infallible, though that's probably hearsay to say that around these parts....
The Impacts seem like really slick actions, I really like what I hear about them. I bought an action recently, and it was between the Mausingfield, Lone Peak and Impact. I bought myself a Mausingfield, as I got an awesome deal on it, and the wife a Lone Peak. I certainly would love to put my hands on an Impact one day, from the sounds of it, they make a solid action.
TS Customs may as well - I would give them a shout if you need a barrel for an Impact action.
No sir, any competent gunsmith can chamber a barrel. “Impact by Stuteville” is just a convenience provided, that Impact will keep popular calibers in stock and you can just order a barrel from the website and screw it on yourself without having to take your gun down to send off to a smith. Just to name a few TS Customs and Gradous have chambered a lot of barrels for Impacts.
Bolt lift is very nice on an Impact. This is one benefit to a trigger hanger system where you can try different hangers (move trigger forward and back) to kind of time the sear engagement, which in turn makes bolt lift and close silky smooth.
I don’t use much lube at all in mine. Especially when going into a match I will clean my bolt good and put lube on the threads of the shroud where the firing pin screws into bolt body. Other than that only lube I put on the bolt is a little dab on the back of the lugs. That’s it.
Those wondering about TL3 and Impact... they’re not even on the same planet.

Just want to let everyone know that Impact has a couple full builds available on their website. “Impact by Stuteville” 6.5 Creed or 6 Dasher sitting in either a black MPA Chassis or flat dark earth MPA with a jewel trigger at 1#. Perfect match setup! If your interested in another caliber just hit em up and let them know and they could prob get ya hooked up quick on what your thinking. Just get the Impact. I guarantee that you are going to end up with that if you keep the better of the two. may as well save yourself some time and money.
