Anyone having pressure issues with imr 4955? I ran into a batch of it that is extremely high pressure, compared the pound i started with. loading 140 gn eld's with 43.5 gns for my .260. Shot the first pound just fine and now that I'm getting into my keg, it's blowing primers. Exact same load, just different lots.

Some were on first firings. i had to remove the bolt and hit the casing on my bumper to get it off. Hogdon made it right and replaced all of my powder. They deemed it was burning hotter than it was supposed to
What was the temperature outside when you fired the first pound? Whats the difference in temperature now?
How close to a published max are you? I don't know anything specifically about 4955 but if someone shoots rounds/powder from the same batch and lot and all of a sudden has problems with them and is blowing primers, I'm leaning towards heat sensitivity putting you in the max pressure range.

I sent the powder back into hogdon and it was confirmed that this powder was burning hotter than advertised. They sent me all new stuff and it performs within parameters now. The jump in pressure came from getting into a new lot of powder, i found. Was blowing primers out with the minimum charge. Hogdon took care of the issue though.
It's cool that hodgdon acted, instead of chalking it up to loading practices. Always wise to back it down and check pressures in a new lot though. Glad you got it worked out.
