Im in search of a decent day/night device I can mount in front of my existing scope. I wont be shooting extreme range with it. 600 yards MAX. Budget is around $2k-$4k. Are there any out there within my budget? Its for coyotes.

-For coyote hunting a Simrad KN203 and put the extra towards a good thermal monocular for detection. Or add a little more to the budget and get a PVS-30 if you need the ability to mount it in front of a red dot, ACOG, or a 1-4 (if it has a short front tube) as the Simrad won't work for those. I will have a mount in the future for Simrads to mount on a continuos rail however to work with those but they will be at least 6 months out. With the PVS-30 you will definitely want an illuminator as well because it just doesn't give you anywhere near the clarity of the Simrad due to the massive lens. I don't even run an illuminator with a Simrad, it's just not needed.

Hey Cory .. 1-4 x24 is out ..under the SIMRAD .
But AR15 with SIMRAD and the ( 1-6 x24 ) is a GO . the 1-6 x24 with a bold Reticle is always my favorite runaround for AR15 anyway. Good field of view and lightweight for daytime and carry . with a 2-10x scope my 2nd choice go-to for AR15 .
I NEVER thought it would be workable being a small 30mm strait-tube Obj. when I first decided to try it and invested time mounting and fielding and shooting, but I had to see anyway . And I am pretty happy now with taking the time to check it out .
1-6 x24 With SIMRAD on top of it . It shorter in the front 30mm straight tube where the Ring/dove-tail mount is, and the gap is bigger than a standard scope with a belled Obj. tube. space/gap to the prism lens Ocular on SIMRAD . but it very usable for Ring/dovetail mount . For the larger space/gap I just run a foam beer cozy between scope Obj. and simrad Ocular .
I have put almost 20 hours now out hunting with the SIMRAD over a 1-6 and it works great and I shoot Coyotes with it . (for me) I usually call-in and shoot Coyotes in the 3x to 4x range and rarely go even into 6x for the shot .
1-6 x24 , The only Rub i have found is that, 1x to 2x power is 'usable and clear' but a little tunnel -like for vision, not quit filling 100% full Ocular to the edge . But it immediately pulls out of that just cresting out of 2x and GTG in 2.5x and up to 6x .
.
My PVS-30 makes her maiden voyage into the swamp this Thursday. Lunar chart shows less than optimal conditions await. Actually I view this as a positive. Test your gear in a shit storm. The trusty Zeus Armasight will be in standby scanning the perimeter. Temps are one the rise 70's, humidity as usual running between 65% - 90%. Mosquitoes never sleep in the Okefenokee. .

I know a couple guys running them that have no complaints but my experience has been that the optic will tunnel pretty bad below 3-4x when there's a large gap between the objective lens and the unit. They tunnel a little regardless with 1-X variables but my experience has been that it much worse when the gap increases so I don't like to tell people that they will work on them.
You're definitely going to want an illuminator with the PVS-30 or you're not going to make out a whole lot. I was out with mine last night and it was somewhat overcast but still decent star light and I had an extremely hard time making out the critters which were all within 150 yards. I got the PEQ-15 out though and it was fine then but definitely required. On the other hand the KN203 on another rifle I could clearly make out everything with and didn't need illumination. At the very least I'd get one of the Surefire V series IR lights or a Steiner DBAL to run in conjunction and you should be pretty good to about 250 yards or so. Beyond that you will definitely want something with some power, or just great star/moon light.
They perform perfectly, no tunneling, down to 4 power. They are designed to run with higher powers. That's what makes them so awesome.
Been on the fence about the PVS 30 as they seem to be a smoking deal. All who have bought them are still happy?
tube quality what you were expecting?
I think you misunderstood my post, the tunneling is BELOW 4x with 1-X optics.
