I guess it's a hit or miss

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

FYI mine seems to be working ok but I've not gotten to deploy it at the range yet... Should get to do that this weekend. I will state for the record that what looking back into mine it appears ok. However it does look like some small amount of liquid was inside and has dried and was allowed to leave water droplet marks on the inside. Could this be a flaw in a nitrogen filling station or something?

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

If I mil that as 2.8 (I'd actually go closer to 2.9 or 3, which makes the distance even shorter), then the rim is only about 148 yards. Figure "most" rims are 15 on those style vans. About 158 if use a 16".

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Scott,
Mine came today, didn't get to try it at any lengths but daughter had fun reading stuff in the neighborhood. Seems clear of H2O and dust. Tripod is actually OK, just way too tall for anything, at shortest, can't use off table, longest, not enough for standing. Prone, forget it, make sure you have a nice 6"er

Fast shipping. One question for you guys that have them, does the lens look a little speckled ? Kinda like a matt type of look with some tiny tiny dots in it ? Not sure if this is normal or not. </div></div>

Say no more. That's the third one we've had like this, little black specks inside the lens, like somebody sneezed black talcum powder. I inspected a handful of these and haven't seen it, not sure if this is present when shipping or after. The boxes these arrived in were pretty pathetic. We've also had two with what is claimed to be WATER inside them, I'm waiting on the returns to see this.

So, that makes 5 defective spotters or 12%. Bushnell told one customer they would repair the spotter with a 6-8 week turnaround. Um, no. We sent a replacement and we will take the returns and handle the credit ourselves.

FYI, we are getting low on spotters.

Thought I would jump in here. I just got around to opening mine up today. When I cranked up to 45x, black specs were everywhere. I called Scott today and this makes #9 out of the 49 that Bushnell shipped. Damn, that's 18%.... Not Good... Bushnell will get the call on Monday.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Thats almost a 20% failure rate. thats totally unacceptable for any product. I was going to get one but with a 1 outta 5 chance of getting a defect I will wait for a while.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Add me to the freshly frustrated list guys!!! big black boogers in mine. thought it was dust or dirt that i would clean before the range. I saw that there was a %20 failure rate so i decided to clean now. Guess what? perma boogers....FUBAR

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Myself and another hide member, both also experiencing the black dust, have contacted Bushnell about our problems. Neither one of us has much confidence in them after speaking to customer service. After some coaxing I finally got them to send a shipping label to me. I was also told that it would take 6-7 days to get the label to me. This is BS. The other hide member was told he would have to send it back at his expense. He was told that they would either repair or replace his spotter, at their discretion. They also told him a 4-6 wk turnaround. Again, I call BS. In my discussion with Bushnell, I was told that they would replace the spotter. Different stories????? Not much confidence. I see a long painful road ahead. Out $400 w/ no spotter. We'll see how it plays out.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Have you tried contacting Scott? Part of buying from Scott is having him to protect you from having to deal with the manufacturer directly. Perhaps he's no longer selling any so he can't help but I think its fairly common for Scott to help people in this situation. He's much more likely to get better support than we are.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

For those of you who are wondering (if any) the bushnell will fit inside of the leupold spotter cover. I ordered one because I messed the zipper up on the one my bushnell came with. The tripod hole is farther forward on the bushnell so I had to cut a hole just in front of the hole in the leupold cover and sewed the edges.
There is a little excess on the bottom of the cover but I'm not complaining as this cover has more padding and the front objective cover is a lot easier to close than the neoprene. Also with the bipod attached you have to squeeze the fabric on the lower back end to get the zipper to go but again not a big deal.
Also there is plenty room left over for the eye piece.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

Fellas,

We're up to a total of 10 returns now. I'm waiting on my call tags too. Bushnells CS representatives response to this has sounded pretty sorry. I'm going to try to resolve this behind the scenes. I've replaced all I can but hopefully you understand I'm not looking to buy more anytime soon.

Scott

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

So the replacements are all good to go? My original was received in perfect condition. It is sounding like Scott got stuck with a bad batch. Sorry you are having to deal with this.

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

i have one from scott and it is clear as hell! i have waited a long time for this baby. it's terrible that there is such a probem with these. they are awesome! i am assuming when bushnell gets these issues taken care of, there should be no hesitation to buy these. wonder what the return ratio is on the units swfa recieved?

Re: INCOMING!!! Bushnell tactical FFP mildot spotters

More bad news, Scott. I haven't been able to use mine at high power, because of fires all around this valley, But today I was able to point it at a partially blue sky at 45x and it's speckled.
