Living in Portland I am fortunate to be a few minutes away from the Leupold offices. The 'multi-gun' or '3 gun' version of the VX-6 with SPR reticle has been somewhat of a mystery. Hoping to clear that up based on a visit to Leupold that ended up with me walking out with a VX-6 SPR reticle.
They can do these in the custom shop, but they do not (at this time) do them on a one-off basis. They made 25 of them in the first batch, with many going to industry writers, etc. they have FOUR left at a price of $950 each. They may do another batch, they may not - no way to tell. I am sure it will be based on demand. The batch mine is from had a date stamp of early May, so they have sold or sent 21 off in 2 months. No idea if that is above or below average for a special run.
These must be ordered from Leupold, or from a dealer ( I assume) that has bought them from Leupold, but it seems Leupold is selling them direct to consumers as the main disti channel for this.
So if you want this scope now, or if you want to be assured you get this scope, I would advise that you call Leupold and ask for the custom shop to get one of the few left. There is a shooting event in central Oregon this weekend and one of the organizers will have this scope on display for folks to test out. I have no idea if that means orders will come out of it, but it may.
I worked with Jeremy at extension 493...he was very knowledgeable and nice and sold it to me after I checked it out at Leupold HQ. he will set you up if you have any desire to have on of these super scopes.
I haven't shot with it yet, but I was VERY impressed by it. True two eye open shooting capability. They do have a version with a circle dot plex that has a somewhat similar reticle that you can find at any retailer, but the SPR reticle' to me, was worth the extra coin. YMMV.
I am in now way affiliated with Leupold but wanted to pass on up to date info that I learned today.
