In from the cold....
I'm using Talley Lightweight Low 30MM Rings(flat). The scope still gives up 10.8 mils of travel, (one full turn + .8)without a canted rail, on this Templar action.
Shot from a bipod off a bench. The group on the right was shot after moving the elevation turret to 10.8, and back to zero, for each shot. So far, so good! Surprised the hell out of me to shoot this tight with windchill 20-30 below zero. Good equipment rocks!
I like what I see. Dammit man! This year isn't even over and I'm already filling out the list of where my mad money will go next year.
Damn that things sick. I really hope they do one with more magnification. I still might have to try one if the price is right
Seems like it would be an absolute great fit for a shorty rig or hunting rifle. Looking forward to these.
I'm digging it... Any chance of seing the windage drum uncapped?

You can't possibly build one scope that fits everyone's parameters but lets not forget the mission. Us hunters have been compromising long enough. Its high time someone listened. Don't go ruining it for us with request for large, uncapped windage turrets, etc.

Not to distract from the thread but, WOW dude! You should really be proud of that kind of shooting from any gun with temps and wind chill like that and you're still out there rocking bugholes like that?? You're a better man than I. I'm shivering over here in 50 degree weather. Kudos to you for shooting like I do on a perfect 75 degree day when its at least 75 degrees less...oh and 30 below that with wind chill. Freakin' motivator!

Just to clarify, I meant I'd like to see the windage turret with the cap removed..

Thanks for the updat Pat. Any chance of reticle pics at the lowest setting? Maybe with a whitetail sized target at about 100 yards... In low light, out of my tree stand, sometime this season... Just kidding but next time it's not 30 below a low power reticle picture would be great. Thanks again
Its sad when u just got done talking budgets with your wife and then you see this thread. And your back to trying to find ways to get the money for one.

Just finished up doing this "Box Test". Tracking appears to be spot on....
I cranked these shots out pretty fast, and never had a warm barrel.......grin. There is some benefit to the cold!

Can you post a through the scope pic of the reticle on 3x and one on 12x for comparison.
For the guys wanting more magnification, this scope is for hunting and 12x is plenty. I've taken several deer, antelope, and elk in the 700-800 yard range with 10x optics with no issues. It's the perfect power range for long range hunting purposes in my opinion.

The more I read about this scope the more I like it. As others have said though, sure would be nice to open up the magnification from 3-12 to 3-15. On a FFP scope I question the 3-12 mag. BUT - still a seriously nice scope!

Got to have a look Friday and I really like the turrets. The big numbers are nice and the "clicks" were positive. I would agree on the earlier comments regarding the quality of the glass. For fun, I did a side by side comparison with my Vortex PST 4-16 FFP and could tell not a difference between the glass in the two scopes. I was in an urban environment but the reticle seems to work okay over the power range. It's definitely very small at 3x and thinner all the way through the power range than my Vortex but I do not think I would have had a problem hitting a target, especially once I was used to using the reticle.
The bold circle in the middle does help direct your eye to the center of the scope and I think it would be useful if you were trying to shoot an animal that was moving through brush when the scope was on lower power. Once the scope was turned up to 6x, the reticle became more pronounced. The smaller objective is nice as you can mount a little lower. Overall, it's a nice, well thought out scope.

So, in your opinion, the Bushnell glass is no better than that in a PST? I was hoping for better at the suggested sell price of the Bushnell.
I would not say that was a negative...IMO the glass is very comparable. As a frame of reference, I would say the same thing about these two scopes when compared to a NF which I also did a side by side with my Vortex. The glass in the Bushnell is good enough to get it done. I do not have a S&B to compare it with but George killed an antelope and 1268 yards with that quality of glass. Probably better than I could do with a S&B.
The turrets were great and the focus/parallax worked well also but I was really interested in the design of the reticle. My hunting opportunities encompass both close and long range hunting. I might spot & stalk something in the hills or ambush a WT in the river valley willows. I need a mil/mil FFP scope and was trying to decide if it would work for both needs. Can't say I made a decision just yet but I've got some time.

Didn't want to let this fade. Has anyone who may have this glass been able to accumulate any real world data on this here critter? If the glass is as good as the March then I would have a real winner!
Side by side comparisons would be awesome for those who have the equipment to do so...
The mid to upper level glass from Bushnell is very good. I personally think the glass is a non-issue.
This being a high mid to upper end scope the glass will no doubt be just fine. Personally glass is the last thing on my list anymore when looking for scopes. Not only are all the other parameters more important but almost all glass anymore is good enough. There are just different levels of great!

why is everyone so caught up in high magnification? its been suggested on here countless time to up the mag to 15X. 10x is good to at least 1000yds in a hunting situation and many times a lower bottom magnification is more important during a hunt than a higher upper magnification. I would imagine most folks wanting a 15X do a hell of a lot more paper "hunting" than game animals.
pat, those are damn fine groups from a #3 contour hunting rifle in a real world hunting environment! how does that 123 scenar do on game? I just finished a 6.5x47 and was wondering if it would be suitable. mine is a 20" ultralight tube but I get 2875 from the 123amax.
