So I recently purchased a Vortex Strikefire II red/green dot. After mounting it and looking through it the dot is not a dot but a slightly elongated shape. I've not experienced this with my Eotech sights. I wasn't sure if this was a defective sight or me. I've read where if you have an astigmatism this is what you will see. I've also read that if you take a photo of the sight picture that if the red/green dot is irregular that it is the device buy if round then it is your eye(s).

This is what my camera saw so my eye(s) seem to be the problem. I did a little searching and found this info as to why my Eotech look fine but the Vortex doesn't:

"A Vortex red dot might appear "weird" compared to an EOTech because of the fundamental difference in how they project their reticles: a Vortex typically uses a standard LED-based red dot which can be more susceptible to distortion from astigmatism in your eyes, while an EOTech uses a holographic projection, which generally appears cleaner and less affected by eye imperfections, even if it might seem slightly "fuzzy" due to its pixelated nature. "

I thought this information maybe helpful when search for red dot sights if you have astigmatism.
