So I recently acquired a .30-06 R700 from 1984, just your standard good old American hunting rifle.
As you can see on this thread: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...ntage-folks-do-vintage-caliber-1984-r700.html
When I did a basic strip of the rifle, I discovered the action was in fact glass bedded. This a little surprising, since the barrel does not perfectly free float. It mostly floats, but there are still random contact points, particularly at the top edge of the stock forend. So, whoever did the betting did not make sure the barrel floated when the compound was applied and cured, or the stock has warped over time. Now... the question, can I use a gentle touch with sandpaper to remove the small amount of material in the high spots to make the barrel free of stock contact?
Thanks! I feel like all my questions belong here
