Rifle Scopes Input on Scope for Galil 7.62 NATO

I'm loving my IWI Galil in 7.62. It is the most controllable and softest shooting .308 I've ever had. Ergos are great and I improved it by adding the RS Regulate Mount to it.

I've been thinking about optic choices for it. Seems like a perfect platform for a LPVO, but then again, since it is chambered in 7.62, would I be depriving myself of better performance with a higher power optic? On the other hand, if it is a battle rifle, not a precision rifle or even a DMR .... I'd be turning it into to an even heavier beast with a higher power VO.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Anyone had experience with optics on their Galil ACE in 7.62 NATO?

LPVO is a good fit for this rifle. Modern scopes of this type are quite competent at distance.

What's your budget?

How far would I be shooting? Out to 400 yards on a regular basis at my gun club's longer range.

Budget? $1-2K

I'm looking strongly at the PA 1-8 Platinum Series 1-8

The PA Platinum 1-8 with the Griffin reticle looks really nice. If only the MIL version were going to be available before Sept/Oct...

I’d definitely stick with FFP, minimum 8x at the top end, and something with milling dots or ticks instead of just BDC.

Personally, I’d be less concerned about the 1x at the bottom end - how often is it really going to be used? - and end up in the 3ish-15ish range for all my non-3-gun semi-auto needs.
