I just picked up a Marlin 1984 SPL in 357/39 SPL, which is just as beautiful of a rifle as I'd hoped it would be. The only 9mm suppressor I currently have is an AAC Ti-Rant 9, which is very quiet but I'm wanting to get something that can handle 357 mag and that is a little better tailored to this application. I'm wanting something shorter and fatter that will add less length and hopefully still be about as quite as my Tr-Rant 9. I would also use the can on my 9mm AR and potentially on my 300 BLK AR and Ruger American. I already have an Omega 300 that I assume would probably work better on my 300 BLK, but it would be nice to get something that can be used with 300 BLK. I plan to only use it direct thread and not get a piston set up as can just use for handguns.

The shop I picked up the Marlin from tried to convince me to buy the Rugged Alaskan 360, they had it in stock in both steel and titanium version. The steel version is actually still light weight especially if I get a titanium direct thread rear end cap. But everything I've heard in the past is that a "Do it all can" won't be as good at anything as a can intended for that purpose. Would the Alaskan 360 actually be as quiet on 38 SPL and 9mm as a can built with the primary focus on being a 9mm PCC can like the OCL Lithium 9? I'm also assuming it wouldn't sound as good on a 308 or 6.5 bolt gun as my Omega 300. But the reviews I've seen claim it sounds good on just about everything so that has me tempted. If I get a dedicated PCC can I'll end up getting another 30 cal can at some point so I can have more than one rifle suppressed at a time when shooting rifles.

The main PCC cans I am thinking about:
  • OCL Lithium 9 - Very light weight and a good price for a full titanium can.
  • AB F4L 9mm - Very light weight and good price. Con: it's not rated for 300 BLK supers.
  • YHM R9 - It's heavier than the rest, but very short, it's the cheapest and all the reviews I've seen on it are very positive.
  • Energetic Sonus 9 - This doesn't seem to be as good of a value as it's heavier than the Lithium of F4L and cost just as much. But the wipe holder in the end cap has me wondering would it be worth it to be able to run a wipe sometimes for shits and giggles/wow factor on being crazy quiet. But part of me thinks that just gimmicky and I wouldn't actually go through the trouble of running a wipe after trying it once.

Another option is to run a .375cal "rifle" suppressor. We've used the Magnus-375 on 9mm PCC's extensively and it's very quiet. Still rated for .338LM and 375 Swiss P also.
That makes sense, but I don't foresee any big bore magnum rifles in my future. A .375 rifle can is probably overkill for what I would use it for and would be bigger and heavier than what I need for either PCC or .308 & 6.5mm bolt gun use.

After doing some more looking I found a review stating that the AB F4L isn't capable of having the mount options changes so it's permanently 1/2-28 and I would be able to have a 5/8-24 rear mount. Based on that I'm going to remove it from the running.

I wasn't planning on considering what I think of as a "micro" 9mm can but I looked at some reviews of the new Silencer Co Specter 9 and Silencer Co states it is quieter than the Omega 9K even though it's smaller and lighter. Some of the reviews state that the sound difference is barely noticeable compared to full size suppressors, which seems a little hard to believe. It would be cool to have a suppressor that small and light that I could run with no booster on handguns if it still sounds good. It would also make for a very small and light package mounted on my lever gun. I'm just a little nervous it will be louder than I want, and I'll regret the purchase. Anyone have any experience with the Specter 9?

Otter Creek Lithium 9 is top dog for PCC's and would be great on the Marlin, too.

But also, like Zak said, I bet that .375 Magnus-S would be killer on there with full-power .357 Mag loads.

I just saw that the OCL Lithium 9 went back in stock at Silencer Shop so I ordered one 😃. Looking forward to trying it out. Hopefully form 4 approval tomes are still going fast.

I have the YHM R9 and use it on a PCC and bolt action .357 magnum. It’s quiet enough but not super quiet. Also have the ACC 9mm can and it’s much quieter, it is longer though. But the YHM does good for what it cost.

I’m always a proponent of getting more cans,
But I am fairly certain the OP can run 357 mag through his can, especially on a rifle.
Definitely confirm with the manufacturer first.
I have an older original Ti-Rant 9 I picked up back in 2015 before the current gen Ti-Rant 9-HD. I am having trouble finding a listing of what it’s rated for but 95% sure they didn’t list it as being rated for 357 mad even though the current generation is rated for it.

I have the same gun. Currently I’m running a Rugged Obsidian 9 with a 3 lug mount. It’s rated for .357. I’ll try it out this weekend.
OP, the Magpul furniture (1895)works on this gun even though they say it doesn’t. Minor, non permanent mod
