insane MOA theory based on 22lr @ 300yds = 308wm @1000yds.

I may be too tired, and even I think this may be complete hogwash.. or not.

I'm sure you've all heard the theory that a 22lr @ 300 yards is equal to shooting a 308 at 1000 yards. This is due to ballistics. Drop and wind effect seem to be very similar comparison. So for this I'll just say "Okay, sure, lets say its true." So:

For a 22lr compared to 308wm
50 yds = 166 yds
100 yds = 333 yds
200 yds = 666 yds
300 yds = 999 yds

Now if we take a STOCK 22lr, not some super voodoo testicle ramrod 5000 with AI trigger, but a basic 22lr should we expect an MOA based on actual yardage or comparative yardage?

Actual MOA vs comparative to 308wm
.5 vs 1.66 @ 50
1.0 vs 3.33 @ 100
2.0 vs 6.66 @ 200
3.0 vs 9.99 @ 300

6.66 @ 200.... hmmm.... that sounds familiar.

Or should we maybe even average those together?
1.1 @ 50
2.2 @ 100
4.3 @ 200
6.5 @ 300

Those numbers seem pretty normal for stock 22lr with regular ammo.

This should be a fun discussion, release the hounds!

Edit: I'm well aware of Jbell's 6x5 thread. But those are not stock rifles or people. Jbell can shoot a bee in the balls from a helicopter in a tornado... while on fire. This is about normal humans and rifle expectations. :)

"1MOA group with large rifle at 500m would mean that 22LR trainer should shoot 37.5mm/1.5" group to 25% scale 125m distance- and this is difficult. But its not easy to shoot 1MOA/500m with actual rifle neither. "

exactly.

I’ll play, I’ve shot a coke can with my vudoo, and monster energy can with my ruger precision .22 at 600 yds. I’ve also stretched my 375 cheytac to 2900 yds on a 30” steel disk, and I can say both the amount of difficulty and mils required are basically the same.
Here’s a video of the vudoo doing it, but the ruger did it as well.

Hey Skipper, Good job..... What flavor of ammunition do you recommend? I hope to have my Vudoo on 5/29
What was that camera thing you had and what kind of optics do you use?
Thanks so much

Thanks, i was using Lapua Midas + in the video but two days later my 500rnd count box of Xact showed up and after testing both I can say the Xact would be the winner of the two, the Es is roughly half as much for Xact as Midas plus 14fps for Xact and 21 for Midas plus. Short range accuracy is roughly the same. Not sure what camera thing you are referring to, I had my GoPro mounted in a phone scope mount attached to my razor hd spotter. As for the scope on the rifle it’s a Burris 3-15x50 xtrii with my Charlie tarac mounted in front of it.

Skipper, thanks for being so forthcoming. The camera thing was the Charlie tarac. I will have to look it up to see what it is. I am new to the 22lr game. As in 3 months new. You did a nice job on your video as well.

Not a problem, the Charlie is for elr stuff, just decided to try it in the vudoo and see how it would do, I use it on my 375 cheytac and 6.5cm the most it can add anywhere from 10-250 mils of elevation to your setup depending on what you have it set for.

As for the video, I’d never really fooled around with the settings on my GoPro before and didn’t realize if you step it down from 4K you can actually zoom it which I found out after making the video and it completely gets rid of he halo effect caused by the phonescope mount. Lesson learned.
