Is anyone familiar with installing Badger Ordnance EFRs? More specifically does the EFR rail height step down from the receiver rail like a MARS type mount or is it designed to be roughly the same? Trying to figure out what kind of rings I will need to get my clip-on and daytime optics to match up if I go with an EFR.

Re: Installing a Badger Ordnance EFR

Roughly how far out of alignment would you say the center lines of the two optics are? I can't find any hard and fast info on when POI shift/reliability issues start to come into play.

Re: Installing a Badger Ordnance EFR

With the PVS-22 and the day optic, if you can still "see" through it, it works!
I spent a good bit of time getting the optic centerline of the scope and clip on aligned on several platforms, but, it doesn't matter at all.
In one case I may have had some shading from the scope being very close to the PVS-22, but POI was not affected.
I feel more comfortable with the day and night optics fairly closely aligned, but it don't matter.
We shot a 300 mag that had about 60% offset between the 56mm objective and my PVS-22 UNS, "oh heck no way this is going to work" I thought. 600 meters dead on! The owner was so impressed he ordered a PVS-27 for the 300 Win Mag. And has since also ordered a PVS-26 for an AW.

Re: Installing a Badger Ordnance EFR

Just got my Remington 700 mil spec back from GA Precision with the EFR mounted on it. It just about lines up exactly with the rail on the receiver. Touch hard to tell considering the 20 MOA cant. 1.4" badger ordnance ring line up "close enough" with the clip on. An Eagle stock pack finishes it off nicely.

Re: Installing a Badger Ordnance EFR

Did you install your EFR or have someone else do it? I have been going around in circles with my decision an which mount to use on my 700 PSS. I looked at the McCann mounts and everybody on here said it was a POS and don't use. Then I looked at the MARS rail and they are like finding hens teeth...and a costly. Now I am looking at the Badger EFR but not sure what it takes to install it. I have a PVS22 on the way to use as a clip on for night hunting of dogs. Any help is DEEPLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Dean

Re: Installing a Badger Ordnance EFR

Go with the EFR and have a smith inlet and bed it for you.

Anything that bolts to the top of the receiver is putting A LOT of stress on those four screws. A PVS-22/27 etc. is not a light weight piece of equipment (although not as bad as the old SIMRAD).

I ran a PVS-22 on a KAC mount on my AI and it worked well (except for the incredibly high price of the KAC mount). IMHO the forward rail is the way to go.

I don't know what type of stock you are running, but if you don't already have a condiderable investment in it, you would be remiss in not considering an XLR Evolution chassis. For $700 you are adding a fully adjustable stock, magazine system and UNS mounting setup. This is why I have recommended to mu department that we re-stock our LTR's with the Evolution Chassis.

To be fair the McRee's and AI AX Chassis also offer this ability. I don't have any experience with the McRee's at this point and the AI is considerably more expensive. The Whiskey-3 will also have a NV mount, but I don't know what it will look like or how much it will add to the cost.
