Sometimes interesting things pop up while you’re doing mundane tasks…like doing a link check on my Rifles page (239 links). Stumbled across these pearls:

1. Barnard is now offering a version of their #10 rifle in 408 CT, the “10-s”. Regrettable its only a single shot – see http://www.barnard.co.nz/model-10-s

2. Remington Defense has a slick video of their Modular Sniper Rifle (MSR) – see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApjYHcih0f8&feature=player_embedded#! (you'll need to cut and paste the link)

3. Thor Defense Group’s “Thor Rifles” has a listing of an “XM50” which sure looks like an oversized 408 CT – see http://www.thorrifles.com/products?page=...p;category_id=7 (seems to be having significant site problems)

4. And I stumbled across a 7 month old video from Ashbury of their SABER®-FORSST® modular rifle chassis system and their ASYMMETRIC WARRIOR® (ASW) precision tactical rifles (including 338 LM and 50 BMG – never knew they have a 50) – see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnjEHQo0KXM&feature=endscreen&NR=1

I’m hoping to post more videos soon and, come mid-January, update the site with SHOT 2012 info. Drop by the site when you have a few minutes (or an hour or two) to browse the links.

Best to all, Happy Holidays, and God Bless!

Good Morning--That Barnard CT action has been out a few years, they have plans for a repeater but the time frame for it is up in the air for the past year

Good Morning--Actually the 408CT sized rifles in that "design" are the undersized versions of the 50BMG. The 50BMG platform in that weapon "design" was out before ANY of the 408CT chambered platforms.

Thanks

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

ThorGDG:

1. The Barnard link and comment are regarding their rifle, not action. Yes, the single shot action (Model P-Chey) has been available for a while. The 10-s rifle page is relatively new to their site. [I say "relatively" as I have no idea when that page first went up.]

2. It would be great to see some specs for the Thor Rifle XM50 - please post them. Or, if getting the site updated is a hassle, please post them on this forum (separate thread). Thanks.

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

If the Model 10s is anything like the 10, it'll be an excellent rifle. I really enjoyed shooting the 10 in .338LM - solid construction, excellent trigger and accurate with a True Flite barrel.

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

8I will ask Steve at Barnard if they are making a mag fed PChey action .Personally I would ask why as the larger calibre round would surely be better suited in a single fed action to retain mazimine rigidity for accuracy purposes .As Dogtown mentioned he was useing a model 10338LM in a compition shoot both he and I teamed up for , nice rifle and real well made .The great thing with Barnard is they are made to such tight specs and are built for extreme accuracy out of the box

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

I spoke with Steve at Barnard today and they have no plans in the near future to make a repeater PCHEY action .Everything is based around demand -if loads of the public want it they make it but lets face it the Chey Tac round isnt exactly a mass appeal round

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

HI Brian ,

Actually , as far as rigidty goes , it really depoends on how you stock it .

I would drop it into a long barrel block , run a heavy barrel , and as such , I would not be at all concerned about anything much behind the front locking lugs .

So you could cut out a big mag opening , and have no effect on the system as a whole .

Later Chris

Re: Interesting ELR finds...

Their P action is great but if they could make their SM action work with AI mags instead of the HS Precision mags, they would do well in the "tactical" arena. Sorry, a bit off topic...
