Rifle Scopes IOR AR Optic

OK, recently bought a new carbine and had the IOR fixed 3X with upside down half donut ret in it.

It has been a long time since I messed with IOR products but have to say this little scope is sweet! Not likely to go out and buy a bunch of anything but this scope is far better than I expected. Reminds me of the old USO SN12 but with better ret. and pict. mounts for access. Nicely done and not five million doallrs which seems to be going rate for optics these days.

Optics are top knotch and adjustments work great. Now I may have to save pennies for the varible version.

I love the scope, but when zeroing it, I always end up kicking myself in the ass for forgetting to adjust it with it set at "0" then loosening the elevation screws and setting the scope, then tightening down the screws. And I can't tell you how many batteries I've burnt out by leaving it on.

Mike,

I just fell out of my chair, LOL.

The 3x25 QRTS is simple, rugged, and works for most. I get alot of positive feedback on that thing. Not a huge seller but a very high customer satisfaction level.

The little 3x25 is easily one of my favourite IOR scopes. It is remarkable how well you can see at moderate magnification when the rest of the system is well worked out.

Personally, I am somewhat partial to the "naked" version of that scope since it is a bit lighter and has more mounting options (and I like the name

).

Which variable version are you looking to try?

Have you look at it next to a Trijicon TA33 and if so do you have and thought on it in comparison?

I have my eye on one of theses for a while.

Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T Riflescopes

This is a 1-3 power, good for CQ and on 3 power out to 300 yrds.
This also has etched glass so if your bateries go out you can still use the scope.

IMHO you may want to look at these.

I have looked at TA33 (I know you did not ask for my opinion, but that is the nature of internet forums: you don't always get what you ask for

) a while back and whether you prefer it to the 3x25 IOR comes down to your usage. Trijicon's reticle is unquestionably more visible, so for fast use with both eyes open it is definitely a better way to go.

For shooting a bit further out, IOR is easier to use: glass is better and field of view is wider (appreciably wider) which makes looking through it easier.

On the other hand TA33 felt quite a bit lighter, even with the mount.

Basically, Trijicon is a better close range optic with midrange capabilities, while IOR is a better mid-range optic with close range capabilities.

Personally, I wish IOR came with covered knob. I see no need for exposed knobs on a scope of this type.

Let me know what you think after you put those two side by side.

I have recommended TA33 to quite a few people over the years, but caught some flack because they did not like its comparatively narrow field of view. Other ACOGs have wider FOVs. On the other hand, I believe ACOGs should be used with both eyes open most of the time, so I do not care about FOV too much.

I run one of these IORs on an AR and love it! I was torn between it and an ACOG. The final decision came down to eye relief and field of view. The glass on the IOR is awesome and the reticle was exactly what I wanted. It's easily viewable in the daylight and has plenty of illumination for low light conditions.

A friend of mine is pretty frugal when it comes to buying glass, but when he tried this sight out on his scar, he was instantly sold. He was online ordering one the next day.

I wasn't concerned about close quarters use with this optic, but if needed, you can close the cap and use it quickly and accurately with both eyes open.

The only drawback I found is the weight. That bad boy could easily double as a bludgeoning tool.

One thing IOR scopes have never been is "light". That's just not their thing.
