Please don't confuse this post with the other one I have for my .22 trainer.

I can get an IOR 2.5-10X42 FFP Mil/Mil for about $1,100. Is there another scope in this price range I should look at instead?

Re: IOR or ????

Nightforce w/moa reticle? If it's an AR I would get the super sniper 3-9 FFP group buy, it comes with butler creek flip ups and a bobro mount for 600$. I can't think of any target that you could hit with the nightforce or ior and miss with the super sniper if you know what I mean and I'd rather have the extra money as well as a good mount to boot.

FWIW I have a pair of older IOR 2.5-10's (one mp8 ffp, one duplex hunting) and they are both good scopes with great glass.

Re: IOR or ????

The only thing that comes to mind with the features and in that price range are the PST FFP 2.5-10 (which is probably much cheaper).

They won't have IOR quality glass though.

The 3-9 SS seems to be well liked, but it does not have illumination and the reticle on the IOR is far superior.

Re: IOR or ????

If you're looking for FFP, the Weaver 3-15 Tactical mil/mil is worth a hard look. It retails for $1200, but you can pick them up for $750. Excellent glss, solid mechanicals... couple reviews here. A lot of scope for the dollar

Re: IOR or ????

I'd call up Scott at Liberty optics and have a chat with him about it, he has been selling IOR scopes forever and has a lot of info on them as well as quite a few other ones he could give you the pros and cons about.

Re: IOR or ????

If you want FFP in that mag range I would go SS 3-9 from SWFA. If you want Illum then you will have to look at something else. I would also double check, the 2.5-10 models from IOR and Vortex aren't out in FFP yet. Another second on calling Scott over at Liberty Optics if you after an IOR product.

Re: IOR or ????

The IOR 2-10 can be had in sfp or ffp. Have had a few.
It is a very nice scope that has performed well in all regards.

The Vortex 2-10 is sfp only. No experience with that model or the 10x NXS.

Re: IOR or ????

I wish they would make a SFP 2.5-10 with exposed turrets and Mil knobs. I'm not a fan of FFP in a low power range scope. Especially with the MP-8 that does not have a heavy bottom post.

Just went over to Liberty Optics and thats a nice little scope packed full of features for $1100 ... I stand corrected ... thanks for the info.

Re: IOR or ????

m1aconvert, that IOR scope is excellent value for the money, glass is unreal, Scott at Liberty is outstanding and if anything goes wrong with the scope IOR customer service is a-1.

I'll second that,to my knowledge, only one model, the 3-18x42 FFP SH Edition ever had the problem that gave the entire line a black eye even though they fixed any that did break.I have owned that model, the SFP 3-18,and a fixed 4X and will continue to buy IOR in the future.Hate to use the term "Great Glass for the Money" but it fits in this case.In order to do better,a step WAY up in $$$$$ is necessary,JMHO.

It's not significant depending on options. When I priced out NF 2.5-10 MOA MOA w/npr1? reticule they were ~1200 new. That was a cash out the door price from a local guy. So if you're buying new and willing to shop around they are comparable in price.

I have a couple of their 2.5-10's, at over a foot long and a pound and a half in weight they aren't little. Really my only complaint about them.

That price doesn't included zero stop. The IOR doesn't have zero stop on it's 2.5x10x42mm. NF 2.5-10x32 with zero stop add another $300.
