Rifle Scopes IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

I think it is too big for an AR if you mean the 3.5-18X50, I would look at the 3-18X42 instead. Both are good scopes, the 42mm version would suit your needs better even if only for the weight difference (8 oz).

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

Thanks David777 I appreciate your advise. I agree the 42 objective is right on. Do you have one of these scopes I have
a fixed 10x56 MP8 I realy like the glass quailty and the reticle clarity.I want variable for the AR build and
something in the 3-10 4-14 range and the 3-18 looks like a nice comprimise for magnification I dont expect to take it out
past 1,000 yd line. Thanks again for your help.

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

The 3-18 I had worked fine on my DPMS SASS. Now that I have more of a carbine sort of rifle the 2.5-10 is more practical.

You should give the 4-16 model a try that in an ADM 20MOA mount would be a good fit. Call libertyoptics about that one.

Do you have any pics of your gun with that scope? I have a 2.5-10 on order, but am also playing with the 4-16 idea.

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

I run the IOR 4.5x14x50 - MP-8 floating dot, Badger 22MOA rail

Works great, but wish for more / 3x18 would be better for spotting near misses at 600yds+

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

I have run a 3-18x42 on my POF 308 switching between it and a USO SN-3 depending on my set ups at the time. No problems. It has held up well and I love the MP8 A5 reticle with the center dot.

Only pic I can find of it at the moment sorry.

Like I said when I had a SASS it was perfect but on that rifle it was a bit heavy. Like fake DD tits on a 5'2" tall 100lb chick; super-great as long as I'm not the one that has to carry them around all day.

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

I have been using an IOR 4-14x50 MP8 on my .308 for many years. It is rock solid, I have no complaints, and I get amazing accuracy out of it.

Shooterddy-

I have a 2.5x12x36 Spartan on my .308 and it works well for me.
I am not too concerned with shots out past 500 yards as those are for a different weapon. YMMV.

Have a good one-

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

Anyone have a pic of a 2-12x36 Spartan on their AR-10? I want to see how big it looks mounted on a .308 AR because I like the Spartan's specs but it's 12" long.

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

Your looking at almost 15 pounds unless you have a pencil contour barrel on your AR-10. Gonna carry that and shoot it offhand without ever giving thought to "wish this rig was lighter"?

The Leupold Mk 4 variables are fairly light and very compact designs. Look at the ocular lens and magnification ring, then how much room between the mag ring and the turrets to mount your rear ring? Then look at the length of the turret housing and where will your front ring mount?

Had a 4-14 IOR illum M8 and it was too damn long and heavy to use on a 22" barreled AR-10. Put the sunshade on and you'd almost get muzzle blast crap entering the tube/shade.

Plenty guys want the Great Glass scopes on AR-10. Cool if you got a gun-Sherpa toting your gear. 15-17 lbs on a fully loaded rifle is basically a crew-served proposition. Think lightweight and remember you are shooting a semi in .308win that cannot be loaded "hot" so is in reality about an 800yd proposition.

Re: IOR Valdada for AR .308 anyone use one?

I'm looking at in the 2-10 or 2-12 for mine... Especially with the 16" barrel I have on there now. I'm going to follow your thread to see what you decide.
