If you have it on a weapon that is subject to recoil, the problem is that the Battery is in line with the Bore of the rifle and the recoil causes the Battery to bang around in the housing end to end. That could be the problem. All Military Grade Thermals I have seen have the Batteries at a 90 degree angle to the Bore line of sight such as to stop the Batteries from being banged around end to end in a Battery housing.
Triji redesigned the Reap to have the Batteries at a 90% angle to the Bore line of sight.
Housing looks like delrin. The + contact side is the brass insert pressed into the delrin. It’s just press fit, so battery acts like a sliding hammer and beats the compartment when used as a weapon sight under recoil. Bad design by Ir Hunter. Inserting brass pins into small holes drilled into the delrin should prevent the brass insert from working its way out. The delrin would have to be replaced if cracked. Not sure if trijicon would handle it under warranty.
But it’s definitely a design flaw.
Picture quality is awesome, it’s great for scanning/stalking. I have a mkiii 60mm on the AR15 for longer range shooting and ID. It’s awesome as well. I hope to get the housing issue resolved soon. It still works just fine.
