IRA Lower receiver fit problem

I picked up a stripped DPMS-style IRA-10D lower to use in a 308 AR build. Was going to have GAP upper built for it, but during the wait, I took out a DPMS LR-308 18" upper and Geissele DMR to put it together and run it a little. Problem is, the holes for the trigger pin, hammer pin, and takedown pins are too tight for the pins. I tried rubber mallet "love taps", but made no progress. I then tried just setting the upper into the lower, but the lower's sides are too close together to fit the upper into. Have any of you encountered a similar issue, and what is the best way to fix this?

I'm guessing this is an early-manufacture lower given the IRA-10D (rather than IRA-X) designation and the SN#.

Re: IRA Lower receiver fit problem

When my IRA lower arrived, my FFL had a Fulton upper and tried to put it on but it would not fit.

Seems the IRA lowers are VERY tight.

You will likely have to buy an IRA upper or buy a different stripped upper and send the upper and lower to IRA to make it fit.

I get that...I may have to send it in to IRA to get it fit. I'd considered sanding it down myself, but that will take off the finish, and I'd rather not risk rusting on anything...I don't know whether I really want to spend the money to have it fitted and refinished. I may just get another lower.

Good news...after a couple hours with sandpaper, it all fits together...bad news, no finish left on the pins. Oh well, It's a gorgeous rifle.

......although I dont want to have to mod my upper to fit on another lower to test fire.

I would use my IRA lower but since Im going to have it cerakoted Im going to leave it in its stripped form and find someone with another DPMS type lower to try it on. Hopefully I can find a local guy with an IRA one so there arent crazy fitting issues.
