Is a CETME worth an AR15?

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

Buddy of mine has a Cetme, replaced it with an AR, AK and a PTR91 and wants to get rid of it. I've shot it, and it works but does jam. IMO, Don't trade.

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

depends on if its a ral cetme, if its a century build no.

If its a real deal cetme then i would trade if you want one.

Or buy a ptr91 and be done with it, a real cetme is more of a collectors piece IMO.

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

Had a century cetme, fun rifle but not near as accurate as a ad platform. Also it mangled brass on ejection so you couldn't reload. I wouldn't buy another.

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

A 5.56 AR does 90% of what most guys need. Its a better platform. Do not trade. If you need it to fill another role, you can modify it to suit your needs. A FF tube, 18" match barrel, and glass can all be bolted on.

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

As has already been said...if it has Century Arms or CAI anywhere near it...RUN AWAY. They are generally garbage and not fit for tomato-stake duty, but less as a firearm. If you want a quality, HK91 reproduction, then the PTR-91 series rifles are the way to go without having to spend HK dollars.

That said, to get any 91 clone to shoot like a quality .308 AR takes a whole lot of time, money and patience. Most people that I know would generally be better off with a large-frame AR than the clone 99% of the time.

As for your AR...in the current climate, I'd think twice before selling OR trading it. If you want something else, by all means go and get it if you have the funds, but scrapping a perfectly decent AR in working order right now isn't the best of ideas unless you want to engage in price-gouging on the unwashed masses and then put those funds into something else. Either way, I'd buy first and get your new rifle in hand before selling off your AR.

Re: Is a CETME worth an AR15?

Don't do it. I see your in New York... Can't have most configurations of the Cetme here because of AWB. We can have them, but not most models and you cant change much. Also have to weld the end because its threaded. There's been one sitting in one of my local shops collecting dust forever. It looks like crap compared to PTR 91. Really... They look better in pictures, up close the garbage build quality is obvious.

Echoing what others have already said... Don't get rid of your AR right now, Especially here.

Hope it works out for you-
