Is a crimp needed for .308 bolt w/DBM?

Re: Is a crimp needed for .308 bolt w/DBM?

Vote 3, no crimping on bolt gun ammo.

357 Mag, 44Mag with hot loads in revolver yes but none on bolt guns. I have found no need to crimp on gas guns either with correct bullet tension. On a bolt gun for rapid fire I will run about .0015 for bullet tension up to .0003" oversize expander for long range ammo which gives about .0005 bullet grip for single round loading.

Hell, IDK!

Load up a magazine with rounds made to a measured OAL. Feed/fire them all, and hold off firing the last one. Measure the OAL. If it's changed, crimp. At least you'll know. Asking for advice on the Internet for this sort of stuff is like making love over the Internet. Doesn't work.

Have shot thousands of rounds out of a DBM and only use .002" neck tension. No need to crimp.

I stopped bullets without a cannulure a whiles back, under the advice of brian enos. As long as you have enough neck tension, the crimping process is just an added step that can only screw up a nicely loaded round, not help it. In all, I don't think that you will be able to see much difference either way, as long as the crimping process is not botched.
