Is anyone using Vortex ED Skyline spotting scopes?

Considering the Vortex Skyline ED 20-60x80 Angled Spotting Scope.

For 0.22 Cal to 0.30 Cal holds at two hundred yards, into a standard black on brown NRA target.

Eagle Optics, (the vender) said I can return the scope up to 30 days after I take delivery if it does not perform to my needs. If anyone is using this scope for target spotting, please send your opinion of this model's performance.

I have a Vortex ED. I see my 223 and 308s out to 300 yards. It is a nice scope for the $$$, but of course not a Zeiss, etc. I purchased it only for ranges up to 300 yards and so it is serving it's purpose. I do not think I would use it regularly though at distances further than 300 yards... (that is what other spotters are for - i.e. the ones I do not loan out ...)

The tripod that come with Vortex was "horrible," IMO. Mine did not support the weight of the spotter. I contacted Vortex and they sent out a heavy duty one for FREE. It works very well so far though I am finding that the wind (23 mph the other day) is now effecting it some....

Just a couple of things.

Are you using black bull’s eye and brown background standard targets?

How is the 23 mph wind affecting the view?

I use the Shoot-N-See targets. So, they are very visible. We also use white paper w/red dots and the black Military silhouettes. The silhouettes are the most difficult to see.

We had some 23 hr gusts, that effected the tripod. The wind was only around 12 or so and the scope did well.

I have that model. Works fine at all ranges. Ain't a Ziess but it ain't 3 grand either. Good clear day from 500 yards at 20x 30 cal holes are visible. You'll be pleased.

use the skyline 20x60x80 st and have used up to four hundred but also was shootnc targets but i thing you would be pleased like was posted earlier not three grand .

I am also very interested in this scope. I should hope it would perform better than just 300 yards. I'm looking at getting this rather than spending the extra for the Razor HD. Glad to hear it's working out.
