New Sako A7 with a 26” tube that’s at the smiths getting a break and looking to throw a hornady 162g eldm. Want to keep it around 3000fps and looking for load input from those who know more about it than I do....

You're gonna absolutely love that A7. Talked a Buddy into picking up a Roughtech Range in 7MM not to long ago. He loves it, and so do I. I've got a few 7 Rem Mags and they get a steady diet of RL22 and 168 Bergers. I'm pushing my 168's at a snails pace of 2900 fps. They both love the exact same load and CBTO.
Good luck with that rifle. It's gonna eat those 162's like candy. ;)

Check out the loads here https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/7-rem-mag-7-wsm-7-08.144/

Roughtech range is exactly what I have and thanks for the input guys. Have either of you played with RL25 or H1000? I have a good supply of RL22 that I use for my A7 25-06 and will give that some play. I have some RL25 and H1000 loaded up for testing but probably premature till I have some rounds down the tube? Thinking I’ll try the 22 since I have a good supply of it and break it in before the slower burning powder testing. Been reloading for a few years but not at most people’s level in this forum. I’m learning a lot from everybody and appreciate your input.

I achieved the best accuracy out of both my 7mm rm's with rl22. I've moved away from H1000 after splitting two seaters in my Forster benchrest die with slightly compressed loads. I've also had decent luck with 180 Bergers and non compressed retumbo.

I use H1000 in my 300 ultra for that reason and found it to be a good powder. Pretty much use Nosler brass for everything but Norma is great stuff as well. Great speed and nice to hear low SD’s with your load and H1000. Plan to start with a mild load and work my way up to pressure limit.like the Bergers myself but have had such good results with the Hornady’s in my 6.5 CM I wanted to try them in the 7mag. Had a 7mag previously and it was a tack driver with180g Bergers and IMR4350. Gave it to my son.......I really miss that rifle.

I am always looking for the Scenars here in Phoenix but they never seem to be on the shelf in the flavor I want. Have you tried the Warner Flatlines yet? With my 9.5 twist I’m out but will try them in my 300 shortly.

I run RL26 with the 180eldms at 3041. 68.5 grains but it may not be safe in your rifle.

    28” brux

Only wish I had a 28” Brux. Sounds like a nice ride. Have you tried RL33? Thinking about it with the 162 ELDM’s as my twist is a 9.5 and not rated for the 180. How were your SD’s, ES and accuracy with the 26?

I have not tried RL33 yet. I have around 30lbs if RL26 left. I use it in my 6CM also.

This brux is a 1:9. I had issues with the 175 ELDXs due to the longer bearing surface but the 180s shoot well. The Proof is a 1:8.

    .2s-.3s

The throat is just about toast. It has 1018 rounds on it. I have a Proof Steel that is gonna be finished out at 29” throated for the 195s.

The target picture is the last of load development chasing the lands.

Nice! My magnetospeed is so new it only has two strings on it and I love it. I have a Wilson Combat 6.5CM with a 24 inch tube so didn’t look at the slower burning powders. Is your 6.5 a 28” tube as well?

    It’s a 6mm. It’s a 24” Proof.

I am at 3020 with it. 2-3 SD also and zero pressure signs at 45.0. Hornady brass, CCI 250 primers, 108 elds.

Sorry about the 20 questions Boomer, try to learn from everybody. I use fed match primers but notice that a lot of the guys use CCI’s. Is there a practical reason why?

Just got her back from the smith for a new brake and open up the barrel channel. Stainless Lil Bastard, cerakoted to match the blued barrel. Phoenix Precision did a great job and if your on this site thanks guys! Now........Nightforce or S&B.......S&B or Nightforce, that is the question. She’s also getting an Atlas along with a Seekins one piece Picanny. This is my LR coyote gun for Flagstaff area in the spring.

Really depends on the cartridge and powder column in my opinion. My 7RM produces good SD with fed 215m and ccis. My 6mm and 260 produce terrible SD with the 215m. The 215M has a touch hotter ignition which works well in a case with a larger powder column.

Pop gifted me a pile of them for Christmas so I’ll take them for a spin. LR so probably in the 6.5 and compare the SD’s. Finally got my hands on some 139g Scenars.
