Cheap <span style="text-decoration: underline">AND</span> lazy, huh?!?!
All joking aside, I understand what you are attempting to do, but the pain of having to uninstall/reinstall optics, combined with the need to resestablish your zero each time you do so, further combined with the wasted time/ammo you are spending, far outweighs the convenience of only having to drag one case with two rifles with you to the range! Hard cases, which already weigh a lot just empty or with a single rifle/accessories, are nothing but a pain in the neck for casual trips to the range. For long-distance trips or airline travel...go for the hard case (Pelican, Storm, Starlight, etc.) which are a must (if for nothing more than to keep the baggage monkeys from f---ing up your expensive gear). For range trips, the lightweight, soft cases are the way to go.
There are plenty of good alternatives for quality soft cases, including some that will allow you to carry two full-size, scoped rifles (depending on their OAL). Run a search here and you should find a couple threads on this issue within the last couple months for alternatives.
