Yeah I can get MAP/MSRP all day long. I can get free shipping too. I can even buy a scope out of state and get no tax added to the price.

Is it possible to get a decent discount any place?

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

Yes, you can find someone willing to give you a SLIGHT discount every now and then, but no one is going to give you any names because of Nightforce's strict MAP policy, and because they are literally flying off the shelf at full price.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

There are great deals on NF's all the time in the classified section. I would not be scared to buy a used NF. They are rock solid. I've gone through at least 5-6 NF's and never a single problem.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

A dealer isnt going to give you a sizable discount. With thier warranty why not search through the classifieds. There are always NF scopes being sold.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

Ive been watching the used section. Have not see any deals. Maybe 75 off new price. Not worth risking my money.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

Guys I know there is alot of talk about MAP pricing on the NF and alot of people complain that they can't "get a deal." When I first started in this business, I was right there with you. I thought "Why can't I just make what I need to make and sell them for what I want?"

After 7 years selling this stuff I have come to understanding that MAP pricing is good for everyone. It preserves the profitability of the line and helps small and large dealers make money.

What would happen if you didn't have MAP pricing would be bad for everyone. The scopes would be whored out by some dealers willing to sell them for minimum profit. This would then prompt other dealers to stop carrying them b/c they couldn't sell them or couldn't make much money on them. Then eventually when those who were whoring them out went under or also quit selling them b/c they couldn't afford the overhead b/c they weren't making any money on them, where would you buy one and how could NF grow as a company and develope new product???

We are very low on NF scopes right now. I wish we had twice as many or more than we currently have. We have less now than I can remember since I nervously placed that first $30,000 order for them not know if I could sell a $1500 scope or not. Now I routinely place orders for more than that initial order and do it w/confidence. As a trade off for having $60,000 worth of NF inventory sitting in our store, we need to make decent money on them.

No one is trying to screw anyone. Just trying to make a living same as everyone else and MAP pricing helps us all do that and get a great product at what I feel is a very fair price.

Sorry for the rant and sorry if it pisses anyone off. Just telling it like it is.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

For Nightforce, I can't suggest highly enough that you call Jay at Sport Optics.

I was looking for a Nightforce F1, and Jay took such good care of me that my wife ordered a second copy a week later.

Call Jay, I think you'll be pleased!

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

what I would do is call a dealer and make an offer, I would say give me this scope for say $150 discount, or if you like nightforce rings see if they can throw in a free set.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

Sport Optics has the 3.5-15x56 without zero stop or hs turrets with the NP-R2 for 1399.00. Its the old model and he bought as many as he could. No MAP on these.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

Thanks.

That actually helps me understand why there is no deal on these scopes.

Very well said, this not only goes for NF but for any company regardless of what they make. If you want to grow you cannot put all your eggs in one basket- in this case a dealer that constantly undersells. Unless that dealer can take all your inventory and sell it and continue to do so as your company grows (which is highly unlikely)you will not grow, will not have a dealer network and eventually you will go under do to LACK of growth. A growing company has more money to spend on R&D and to go out on a limb and try new things and to push the envelope, if there is no growth there are no new ideas or products that come to fruition.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

I feel like the MAP also helps resale value on used optics, which one reason spending big money on optics doesn't bother me.

Later this summer I plan to upgrade to a mil/mil f1 NF and will be selling the one I have now that is sfp. Doing some research and watching various ee's I have found that I should be able to sell it for at worst $200 than I paid for it.

If it weren't for MAP it would be likely that someone could find a new optic for the same or less than I would be willing to sell mine for. In turn I would have to drop my price or not sell.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

There's no deal on Nightforce because there doesn't have to be one. We're all so giddy about owning one that we're willing to pay whatever the asking price that the demand continues to be greater than the supply so the price continues to increase and will continue doing so until we, the demand, become unwilling to pay the asking price. Then the price will stop increasing, but not unitl then, which will be never.

Like gasoline fuel prices. We continue buying fuel pigs while fuel prices continue increasing.

Why should the stiff shirts stop prices? They're in the business for one reason: PROFITS.

I have a box of Sierra .308" 220 grain MKHP in the old cardboard box. The price sticker is $15.00, but the second, marked down sticker is $12.00. I bought them about twelve years ago. Prices have increased because of precious metals blah blah but mostly because of nifty websites fueling our egos to make it fashionable and tacticool to shoot. Demand increased. Priced followed.

No deal on Nightforce until we stop buying them at the asking price. Which means no deal on NIghtforce. Ever.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

The magic of retailing
Create Demand
Charge more than the customer wants to pay, and
Make them wait for the product

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

The deals on Nightforce scopes are in the "For Sale" section here.

With the Nightforce warranty and reputation, I had no hesitation about buying used. If I ever have a problem, I am sure they will resolve it.

^^^ Good deal right there. The HS and Zero Stop would be nice to have, but not needed in my case. $1399 for a new NF is a steal.

As for MAP pricing, it was stated clearly above why it is good to have. I can not think of a quality product made and distributed that does NOT have MAP pricing. Just a thought.

As for "risking" the money on a NF purchase, if you pay MAP or less, you are getting (IMHO) one of THE best scopes made anywhere. If I could afford another one, I would without hesitation.

Re: Is it possible to get a deal on an NF scope?

MAP pricing is good for the manufacturer and the retailer when they both have more demand than they have supply. And it is also good for the ued seller as long as supply stays low.

Once supply gets above demand then MAP pricing goes out the window. Used values go down, then better deals are available to retail buyers.

This cycle happens to all products sooner or later. And it will also happen to NightForce. It is just a matter of time.

Just imagine the poor guy who paid MAP prices for all those Vortex scopes the retailers blew out just recently.

NightForce's time will come. As well. It is just the natural progression of busines.

Leupold has MAP pricing also. I just bought a Leupold that MAP pricing was $429. I bought the scope for $350 with some free goods and free shipping.

I would bet if you called all the NF retailers you would find someone willing to discount one to you for cash. Or at least the 3% credit card discount. And 3% is a good bit when talking about a $2,000 scope. Or save $50 from an order from Midway with their buying program. Deals are out there, just shop around.

Nobody is going to give away their honey hole on the internet. Ring the phone!! Then do what the other guys do, and keep quiet about it. Tom.
