Is it safe to buy on Gunbroker?

That being said... and being the cynical bastard I am... I would do my own research and make sure the seller had LOTS of positive feedback and had been a member for some time. Also I would talk on the phone prior to placing a bid, be diligent, sadly there are a lot of crooks out there more than happy to seperate you from your money. I have bought a couple items on gunbroker and have not had any issues.

I’ve purchased sever things with good luck. Only issue I had was purchased a pistol with a Leupold scope that they never told me it was broken. Luckily Leupold replaced it for free.

There are still plenty of scammers on there. If said shotgun listing had a 360 area code and said to text it’s probably a scam. I hit him up last week because he had a bunch of nice o/u’s and it was 100% a scam. I found a bunch of listings with the same phone number and all looked to be hacked accounts.

All his listings on numerous different accounts had lots of feedback but it was all 7+ years old and no activity until now which to me screams hacked accounts. And the shotgun I was interested in just happened to be a few miles down the road but kept moving around when I wanted to come look at it in person.

People hav got scammed on SH!! No place is 100% ‘safe’. I hav had couple not pleasant experiences on GB. If pics are fuzzy and descriptions suk, just keep on scrolling. I bought 1 yesterday on GB.

Last purchase was a month ago when in a moment of boredom I did a search for an Uber rare part I have been looking for two years now.

Up pops one new in the GI wrapping at $1K.

I wasn't taking chances immediatly hit buy it now.

Exchanged a bunch of emails with the seller while getting the bank check.

Still excited I got that deal.

That item could have sold easily for twice as much with a big pockets collector smelling desire in the water.

I'm out of rifle building needs right now but if I were looking for a receiver might as well name that place Remington inc and I'll be buying a 1960s built receiver.

Shit the USMC Marsoc return 1911 pistol I bought on there for $3k is worth $7K now if you believe the sales ads.

I guess my best gun investments have started with GB.

Caveat Emptor always applies.

Oh I’m not saying there aren’t any deals or that most listings are scams. I have scored some crazy deals on optics from GB and bought some firearms too. It’s probably like .1% that are scam listings but like most things in life if it sounds to good to be true…..

The reason I posted was OP mentioned a good deal on a shotgun and that’s what all this guys listings were. A bunch of Citori’s, Beretta Silver Pigeons, etc all with buy it now prices of 1100-1400.

Bought and sold close to 100 guns I'd guess. Never an issue. Buying from FFL's is safer, though not all FFL's have the marking in their profile, far from it. Avoid "NR" sellers. Watch out for low feedback sellers, or at least look at them to make sure they're not all brand new, or for nonsense items or all left by the same seller/buyer(s). Be smart.

Do these morons have fucking google with all the stupid threads they post that could be answered in a 10 second search?

This is the stupidest form of lazy, do more work and wait around for an answer you could have in seconds.

Was thinking the same thing. Some of these people are just trolling or data mining anyway.

Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't trust the search engine, which can be bought and swayed. Companies, all of the time, pay extra to get their company name up in the search. Seriously, I can type in the name of a piece of equipment and I will get the first two or three suppliers before I get the actual manufacturer's website, which is what I was looking for so that I could download the tech manual.

So, maybe this guy was just thinking, "let me ask some people who might really know."

Not realizing that someone will come along with the undeniable need to defecate on him for no other reason than it's Saturday.

Yes small time gun broker scammers are buying google off to claim they aren't scammers.

I stopped reading after that retardation.

And I did not specifically say gunbroker scammers. My comment was about major companies that make a equipment and I need a tech manual because a crew is on the job and encountering the equipment for the first time and I have to find the manual and translate across languages in the span of about 5 minutes. And the search brings up three suppliers who sell that equipment and then I scroll down and finally find the company's site and get on that.

Granted, I called you out on your saltiness. Now what, tough guy?

I have purchased perhaps a dozen pistols from GunBroker and never have had any problems. Then again I only have purchased from sellers/venues with hundreds of sales and a virtually spotless review record. If the seller has a deep profile of many sales and lots of positive feedback I'd not worry about it. If it's an unknown seller with no feedback?

Pass.

VooDoo

You started in with your white knight bullshit. I read one sentence just like I said, still haven't went back to read any of it.

You keep pretending you matter to me though.
So, I am a white knight. What is the opposite of that? If I am, as you suggest, coming to the rescue of others, what does that make you? Other than a person who spends more time being insulting people than anything else. What have your insults actually accomplished, other than some kind of kinky weird gratification for you?

Exactly what it's supposed to do
