Is my new scope mount canted?!!!

Just received my new 34mm Aero Precision Ultra Light mount.
Was going through the process of mounting my scope and at step 1 I’ve hit a snag.
The countertop is level as is shown in the pic and this is the same process I’ve used on mounting all my scopes.
This is the first issue like this I’ve ever come across.
Is it possible the cantilever mount isn’t square and level? Any other possibilities? Thanks in advance Hide.

I mean it’s aero so it’s not the razors edge of precision. But, in the end it doesn’t matter if it is or not because you mount the reticle to the fall of gravity.

Yep. You’ll definitely use a plumb line to level that one up, like should be done anyhow.

You're comparing the bottom of the clamping mechnism to the top of the mount face. Of course it won't be level. The surfaces that matter are the bottom of the mount that contacts the top of the picatinny rail. Try leveling a portion of picatinny rail (Could be on an upper, handguard, or whatever just make sure the top of it's level) and mounting it, then see if its level.

The side with the seperate piece is lower than the solid side, so it's possible when tightening the screws the mounting clamp bar is being forced upwards due to only being subjected to the upper portion of the clamping force.

Looks like that’s what I’ll need to do. Never had to before as all my other mounts are perfectly level.
This is my first cantilever mount and I’m not real happy with it so far. I know Aero isn’t the best of the best, but it’s not like they’re UTG or CCOP type garbage.

Right, but my point is when it gets mounted it will have another mounting surface to push the mounting bar down and make it damn near level. Not that it matters anyway since the only piece that has any real effect on the mount being level is the surface that contacts the top of the picatinny.

Honestly think you got incredibly lucky with the other mounts if you've never had an issue mounting like that. Most mounts I've worked with won't be level when placed on a level surface not mounted in some form of picatinny rail.

Your bubble level isn't indicating the mount is out of square. The mount doesn't sit against the bottom edges, it sits against the rail interface. Attach the mount to the rifle, square the scope inside the mount, and then plumb the reticle to gravity.

Yup I put it on an upper and had the same exact issue.
Honestly this is probably the least expensive mount I’ve ever purchased.
Bought on a recommendation. ?
Right now I own ARC, DT and Warne rings and mounts. Even my old American Defense is perfectly level.
Now as I tighten the rings, the scope moves a tremendous amount. These rings that clamp at the 12 and 6 position are a pita.
Lesson learned for me. Apparently buy once cry once applies to everything lol

Doesnt matter as your scope rotates inside the rings until leveled.

It could be 45° off and you could still level the scope.
