SO...I see Remington is going the way of the barrel nut...hmmm

Narrow ejection port similar to Savage 12 and LRP rifles with the target actions...

And a barrel nut like all Savage 10/110 rifles...hmmm if the threading pattern is the same as Savages Small Shank Remington might have scored a home run here...

Bladed safety/trigger...Seems like Ive seen that somewhere before...

I'm curious to see if it has a floating bolt head. I think it is a Marlin X 7 more than a Savage. Hard to tell without pulling one apart.

Wonder if a M700 trigger will drop in and the action bolt spacing is the same.

They should have just reintroduced the M788 instead.

I think it's pathetic they couldn't bring anything more original to the table. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if there is any compatility with 700 equipment.

IF I remember reading right, doesn't Remington own Marlin?

I have never been one for the bladed safety trigger thingy, but IF that accepts a M700 trigger (no idea why it wouldn't), and it has the same bolt spacing as the M700 (again, no reason it wouldn't), this rifle would accept ALL the aftermarket accessories (stocks, triggers, bottom metal) and have an easy barrel change system (ala Salvage)...It is possible they are trying do draw Savage followers to Big Green...

Who knows. It is ugly, but if it shoots...so what. People still drive AMC Pacers (AKA, the wheeled fish-bowl). They are ugly as sin, but they get you from point A to point B.

Savage is ugly as well, but it's cheap, and so is the marlin, as well as the Ruger American. People want a CHEAP rifle, and this is it. All I've heard is how the 700 is to much for people to spend and the 770 is a turd (it is) So Remington responded w/ what people asked for, and here ya go.

I saw this gun at DSC. They said it should have a street price under $400, and the trigger did not feel bad. I'm sure it will be a good seller if it's not built like the 770.

I agree that it is ugly but i live in a small town and i have yet to meet anybody around my area willing to spend more than $300-400 on a rifle and scope together. Remington is responding to the market with something of decent quality and price. Name means something to a few people but in this day and age price means something to everybody. IMO
