If there is one single policy that is making this happen,its the excessive use of sanctions that are now enacted against 40 or so countries. The way around sanctions is to abandon USD/Euro trade and start divesting from US debt and trade starts with oil and gas. As long as sactions were mostly against tiny countries like Cuba , North Korea,Sudan etc non players these things kinda went along , but once sanctions began to be aplied broadly all over the place , alternative systems to circumvent them began development , Iran probably being the biggest and most agressive innovator,but with Russian and China added to the pot the critical mass has been reached.
USD is here to stay as a reserve currency but dominance will be greatly eroded as more and more trade is done in other currencies and less debt is being bought as countries try to sanction-proof their economies.BRICS and SCO are at the moment very attractive.
