Is something going on in Ukraine?

🇷🇺🇺🇦.It is worth noting that panic reports are spreading in Ukrainian social networks that during the detonation of an ammunition depot in Khmelnytsky, a large batch of British tank ammunition with depleted uranium, which was recently brought to Ukraine along with Storm Shadow missiles, was also destroyed. As a result of a huge explosion, particles of depleted uranium could be dispersed on the territory of the Khmelnytsky region, which, taking into account the experience of Yugoslavia and Iraq, could lead to an outbreak of cancer in the medium term.
There are already reports that the radiation background has allegedly increased in Khmelnitsky. Let's wait for actual confirmation.

There are several angles of that explosion. It looks real.

That Strike was about 400miles from Crimea. I wonder where it was launched from

View attachment 8141150

There were two explosions, the 2nd one at the 17 second point in the video..

My best guess would be a couple KH22 Kitchen missiles. it has the range, speed and a 2200lb warhead. They're big enough to knock a lung loose, and easily could have been launched from a Tu22, Tu95 or Tu160, over Belarus. A Tu22 Backfire can carry two, and the missiles could have been dropped while the plane was still over Belarus, and easily reach anywhere in Ukraine.

According to the article linked above, Ukrainian officials claimed it was a drone strike. More likely, drones were to help confuse air defenses and a couple KH22's snuck through the ruckus.

It also makes sense, in the context that a couple days ago the Poles claimed to have found some KH22 wreckage in a forest in Poland. Indicating that the KH22 is being put in service to fuck shit up in Ukraine. When one gets shot down, the wreckage can travel a long way since the missiles max ordinate tops out at about 75,000 feet.

May 8th they reportedly used the same Missiles to attack Odessa, fired from Tu-22 near Crimea.

I think you might be right about them being fired from Belarus and kinda what I was thinking, not the first time Belarus has been used to launch similar attacks. I believe the range on these is in the low 300 miles, just a little too far to be launched safely from the black sea region. 2200Lbs ware head at Mach 4 plus... that is a hell of a lot of energy!

According to the locals:

"The Khmelnytskyi Oblast Military Administration confirmed on Telegram that "critical infrastructure" had been hit in the attack on Friday night."

And the Russian's perspective on the same event:
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the attack had destroyed an ammunition depot and hangar at the Starokostiantyniv airbase in Khmelnytskyi, per Sky News.
War is expensive.

Russian forces repelled a series of massive attacks from the Kyiv regime on the flanks of the town of Bakhmut. Despite significant mobilization of both manpower and equipment for this operation, Kyiv achieved no real breakthroughs on the frontline.

Fierce clashes took place south of the village of Krasnoe where the Russians stopped a battalion sized tactical group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiyv lost 3 battle tanks, 4 infantry fighting vehicles and 2 armored vehicles. This with about 200 personnel killed or wounded.

The commander of the 4th Motorized Rifle brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov, being at the forefront around Krasnoe, personally led the battle. He was seriously wounded and died during his evacuation from the battlefield.

On another flank of Bakhmut, Colonel Yevgeny Brovko, deputy commander of an army corps, led the actions of troops repelling the Ukrainian attack. He also died heroically after he had received multiple shrapnel wounds.

East of Bogdanovka, the 3rd battalion of the 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade repelled six attacks from the Kyiv regime. The attacks involved assault groups numbering more than 100 personnel with seven tanks, 14 infantry fighting vehicles as well as other military equipment. Seven tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles and more than 50 Ukrainian servicemen lost their lives on the battlefield in this engagement.
Over 30 Ukrainian servicemen, two tanks and three infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed in the zone of responsibility of the 6th division.

As of the first half of May 15, it appears that the counter-offensive actions of the Kiyv regime around Bakhmut on May 13 and 14 resulted in total failure. Meanwhile, units belonging to the PMC Wagner continue their advance inside the town. The main fighting is ongoing around the areas known as “Konstructor” and “Gnezdo”. From recent developments, it looks that one of the current tasks of the advance is to fully cut off the road to Khromovo.

At the same time, panic is developing on Ukrainian social media over reports that during the detonation of an ammunition depot in Khmelnytsky, a large batch of British depleted uranium tank ammunition, which was recently brought in to Ukraine along with Storm Shadow missiles, was also destroyed. As a result of the huge explosion, particles of depleted uranium may have been dispersed on the territory of the entire Khmelnytsky region. Reports claim that the background radiation has increased in the area. A spike in gamma radiation was detected around May 12, with emission continuing to rise the following day and remaining at the elevated level thereafter. Taking into account how little gamma radiation comes from depleted uranium, this spike indicates that the stockpile of depleted uranium munitions was destroyed there. From the sad experiences of both Yugoslavia and Iraq, one may conclude that an outbreak of cancer should be expected in the region in the future.

Any idea how much each of those missiles cost?

The older pac3 patriot is about 4,100,000 per missile.

Could you imagine if they did and Hungary called on NATO to fulfill its obligations after that attack happened. NATO fighting alone side of Russia to defeat Ukraine. Just can't make this stuff up.

It's a good thing Ukraine didn't do it. Not that I think NATO would attack Ukraine, but they would lose a lot of European support and they barely get monetary support from European countries now. Don't worry Big Daddy USA will be there to take care of Ukraine.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, commander in chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, said Russia launched six hypersonic "Kinzhal" missiles from MiG jets, nine cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea and three land-based S-400 cruise missiles. Ukraine's air defenses downed them all, he said, along with six Iranian-made "kamikaze drones" and three reconnaissance drones.

"Another unbelievable success for the Ukrainian Air Forces!" tweeted Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov. "Russian terrorists have no chance of prevailing over Ukraine. Their weapons can and should be countered by Western ones."

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said a Patriot missile battery was destroyed by a Kinzhal missile, but Ukraine officials declined to address the claim.

Russia launched its latest attack around 3:30 a.m. from the north, south and east, the Air Force said. Debris from the destruction caused some damage and started fires. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said three people were injured in Solomianskyi district, where debris ignited a fire that damaged four buses and a garage.

Above is from this.

1. According to the latest info from non-official ukies and Russian sources, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, commander in chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, can not be found anywhere for the last several days. There are all kinds of rumors floating around about it.

2. Unbelievable is a key word here.

They shot down a hypersonic missile???
Patriots could do that. The Scuds we shot down in Iraq were Hyper Sonic for a period of flight.

I have to some what disagree with the way the term Hypersonic gets thrown around. Missiles reaching these speeds is not a new thing, Mach 5+, and they are interceptable. More of a Buzz word...

These are the ones that are going to be a bitch.

Were the SCUDs at the hypersonic portion of their trajectory when intercepted?

100 Mt on a glide vehicle??? Who is that coming from?

I believe it isat the peak of its Ballistic arc at high altitude and coming back into the atmosphere. From what I read the first interceptiong took place at 17,000 feet, by that point it has likely slowed down a good bit, to what speed ??? and again this is just gathered from things I have read public sourced.

-The first attack on Saudi Arabia, however, revealed a complication that dogged the Patriot throughout the war. High in space, a US satellite detected five missile launches, but, by the time the Scuds reentered the atmosphere six minutes later at a speed of 4,000 miles per hour, the five missiles had broken into fourteen missile parts, including five warheads. The Patriot, an anti-aircraft system that had undergone software modifications to become an antimissile defense system, fired twenty-eight of its interceptor missile two for each incoming Scud object. It was an astonishing show of force, but it cost $16.8 million.

What is believed to be the first missile-to-missile “interception” in the history of combat took place 17,000 feet over Dhahran at 4:45 a.m. on January 17. A 200-pound Patriot proximity-fuze warhead showered its target with shrapnel, rendering it harmless. Israel, which absorbed four days of Iraqi Scud attacks without defenses, asked Washington to deploy US-manned Patriot batteries to join a pair of Israeli batteries that were manned by troops rushed back from training at Fort Bliss, Tex. Within twenty-eight hours, four US batteries with thirty-two Patriots were flown to Israel and set up.

100 Mt on a glide vehicle??? Who is that coming from?
Russia, its not so much the warhead, its the speed and the ability to maneuver, and these get up to orbital velocities.

Claims his source is a guy, who knows a guy fighting with Wagner.

One of the crazy stories that came to light recently in regards to Wagner vs Russian MOD and High command

The whole story and others like it also mean that understanding of Wagner and their boss standing in the Russian hierarchy and/or ties with Putin is massively misunderstood or misrepresented in the Western MSM and think tanks. These guys are no privileged private army like Irans IRGC , but merely convenient cannon fodder, and Prigozin's sway with Putin seems minimal to none .

''Prologue: Assault on Palmyra
March 26, 2016.

On the eve of the Wagner storming of Palmyra General Alexander Dvornikov was in position with a large retinue and guards. There were also a large number of Syrian generals, to whom the ''barmen'' constantly carried tea in thin glass cups - and cold towels. It was hot. The generals were sweating, but they sat and watched. It was like in a theater - white tablecloths, tables. And they see on the roof how ordinary guys will take Palmyra.''

Long story short Wagner's troops stormed Palmyra alone while Russian and Syrian brass watched the show, then a day later 'heroic' Syrian troops with a tiny Russian contingent waltzed and claimed it in while top brass of the Russian army attached to Wagner took the credit for the assault. An agreement was made to award 4 Hero of Russia medals to Wagner troops involved in by all accounts a very intense fight on fortified ISIS position and Defense Minister Shoigu supposedly said that awarding medals to PMC would be an absolute disgrace, the medals were handed out to top brass of the Russian military instead.

Putin seemingly misinformed about the reality on the subject wrote a letter of commendation acknowledging Wagner fighters for their supporting role as second-echelon troops in an attempt to smooth things out.

So the running yoke in Wagner at the time as we are the second echelon but there is no first echelon in front of us

After the whole episode, Wagner's chief on the ground had a massive fight with the general staff and minster Shoigu over the charade around the awards, and things spiraled from there.

Defense minister Shoigu ordered the army general staff to disband Wagner in Syria immediately with haste and have all their personnel repatriated to Russia, days later a Su34 dropped a bomb on Wagner's position that just happened to host Wagner's point man in Syria at the time who lost an arm as a result of that attack, all involved still believe it was intentional, as the target coordinates were sent to Su-34 from HQ , not the forward controller on the ground.

Days after the order to disband Wagner Syria bunch of airlifters were dispatched to pick up the PMC,the Wagner troops were rounded up across Syria and disarmed and all ammo stocks retireved., flights were delayed due to bad weather and 300 or so bastards were at the Latakia port at the time when someone decided to have them loaded them up on a bulk transport ship and send the long way around by boat , without any provisions only the ship crew smuggled onboard what they could save them even more agonising trip as top brass continued pressuring down the command chain for speedy removal of Wagner from Syria

Wagner wounded were also refused treatment at a military hospital and could only be treated at Wagner's own facilities.

All in all defense minister Shoigu and Army general Staff used every chance to punish them over the Palymira spat, 9 months later Palymira fell when Syrian troops fled from ISIS advance.

Reading these reports written years ago by a now-deceased war correspondent that was embedded with Wagner at the time, one can only assume the fights of Wagner's boss with Shoigu and the General staff are real , nasty and can really mean the military is deliberately withholding ammo from them.

It’s like our contractor services…..just a means to circumvent accountability.

If it goes well the political party claims credit. If it goes to shit the political party denies having had anything to do with it.

I could care less about Wagner but the use of contractors in USA sucks.

If the USG is going to use force, have congress authorize it, have those fighting wear an American uniform, have a declared and achievable limited strategy, have the mil pack it’s own shit so some business enterprise isn’t there to make profit than claim damages because oh my God shit went bad in a war zone and we are non-combatants.

As these contractors are actually used as front-line troops is probably about bodybags not counting as fallen soldiers.Academi/Blackwater get used mostly as rent a cops around logistics tail, racking big bucks while GI does the fighting, here its more old-fashioned mercenary work 'you get the big bucks ', so you get the privilege of storming the fort.
