Is the Magpul AFG still popular?

Or did it hit it's peak and gone by the wayside?

I was thinking of mounting an AFG2 on my pistol to fill the hand gap when using the 'driving the gun' grip but wanted to hear from others that may have used them. Are they too big and bulky or are they still an important part of your set up?

TIA

I have several on my SBRs and really like them. I find them more comfortable to grasp than a vertical grip.

Also, when shooting from a rested position, I can use the slope of it to adjust elevation by sliding the gun or rest forward or back.

That would make sense. I hadn't thought of that added benefit.

I still like AFG2 for Picatinny rails but don’t really like the MLok AFGs. I’d prefer a simple hand stop like the XTM hand stop kit

I can tell you people still buy them about 5:1 over hand stop kits.

I personally prefer the hand stop or a chopped VFG but people sure do love the AFGs.

Mine's going on a pistol so it can't be a VFG otherwise I would go with one. I like the short VFG on my M4's.

The gap from the angle on my support hand is too great for a hand stop otherwise I would opt for one.

I'm thinking the slimmer AFG2.

i never found the AFG comfortable....i find the grip angle is just a little too steep and it cants my hand at an odd angle.

I really tried to like the AFG. Bought 4 of them . They look excellent and streamlined . But after lots of range work , I went back to my original Shorty QR LaRue VFG . My purchase up front and transitions from strong to support side just got stronger . More locked down. YMMV.

I like the MLOK AFG on my AR Pistol, but I use handstops on my rifles. The shorter length handguard puts my wrist at an uncomfortable angle, and the AFG helps. On longer rails, I don't have the issue, and simple handstops work great. I'm in CA, where VFGs are naughty, otherwise I'd like to try some stubby VFG options.

They're not for me. Like a lot of other furniture pieces or grips, the only way I could find this out was by experience. I'd say just try one. If you don't like it you can probably sell it, and if not then it wasn't that expensive a discovery.

at this point theres quite a few other companies that make angled grips, so if you looking for similar but different they are out there. I had a imi I believe offering that was pretty badass. different strokes for different folks. Ive actually got a long broom handle on my ar. i prefer the good ol gangster grips after trying a little bit of everything I circled back to where I started.
