If we're going down this rabbit hole, we should also clarify that 85 dB is the OSHA standard for continuous noise (like working around machinery), while 140 dB is the accepted threshold for impulse noise like gunfire...

That said, "tone" plays a large part in what is comfortable. And, comfortable is not necessarily hearing safe. Few people have an issue with shooting Standard Velocity 22LR without hearing protection. I don't know how many 1000s of various 22lr rounds I've shot without hearing protection. But, that's not hearing safe according to the numbers.

And @HD1911 I see you have an RC3. I’ve had one in jail since October or thereabouts. What do you think of it?

I have a buddy up north who follows this mess like SH follows primer prices. Last I heard from him maybe a month ago the ATF can't enforce the rule, but it has yet to be stricken from the record. Lots of lawsuits and injunctions, but not yet a final ruling. I am by no means an SBR/brace guru just passing along what he shared on last text. He lives and breathes SBR/brace news.

Just processed a can through SS and it was painless. I am okay doing business with SS as long as I don't have to talk to them. Over the phone the people I have chatted with have been arrogant pricks.

The Hux also has a 10,000 round service life, I like surefire muzzle devices better, I wanted the locking collar, and didn’t want to have to use the included wrench to take the Hux off when it inevitably locks itself onto the muzzle after firing.

And yeah hell, it does look like a dildo, hahaha. Def doesn’t win in the cosmetic department either. Oh and Inconel > 17-4 SS.

Actually they've refuted that and some have over 50,000 rounds in testing. As long as you clean your can periodically, it should be good to go for a long, long time.

With the recent spike in demand for silencers due to historically low wait times, you're probably seeing a lot of back order statuses on the site. Think about a back order as basically reserving your silencer when they come in. We're filling back orders all the time, and since we're the biggest distributor in the country we have huge POs out to all of the manufacturers. Silencer Shop is getting new cans as fast as we can to get them out to you all.

Chase, what's the usual turn around between signing all the documents and y'all preparing the paperwork to certify it? I'm at six days and counting so just curious how long the wait will be before it's all certified and sent in.

I have bought from or used Silencershops infrastructure on 12 silencers since 2021 and will continue to do so. Quick, easy, convenient. Never had an issue. Can't recommend enough.

To add to this I've called multiple times to see if they can get me something or back order something and they were very helpful. Was able to back order two C.A.T silencers that I wanted. They're currently waiting approval from atf. Back order on the cat SR took about 5 weeks and the cat wb 718 1x16lh took about 3 weeks.

After you docusigned? I think like 2-6 days but that also depends on my local ffl. Doing eform with them basically when they can. After docusign I don't get a notification from silencershop saying it's ready for my dealer to eform.

When it becomes available to my dealer it goes in their queue and from there basically whenever they call me.

Best thing about SS is if the store has a kiosk and is willing, they can add "store stock" to their inventory and run everything through their system. I have a dealer I ship cans to, he adds them and just charges me a transfer fee (none with cans bought from Silencer shop), BUT you can avoid paying sales tax some times and can get cans much cheaper and in stock. Not all dealers do this, but if you find one who will (Its dumb that they wouldn't, its good business) it makes doing paperwork so much easier.

Ah ok got it. Yes I've done the docusign already. The next step is "preparing for e-forms" and the step after that is "prepared and ready to certify." I'm assuming SS does this portion of it no? Can is getting shipped to FFL next town over. Last can I did with SS, paper was still a thing. I just remember picking up the suppressor and they had the tax stamp doc there after a very long wait. I just wasn't expecting SS to take longer to get the form ready than it'll allegedly take the ATF to approve it.

Well, SS volume is going up as atf wait times go down. More volume on their end is not going to reduce the time to file. (Hint, it’s going to increase that part of the wait.) I think I waited 2 weeks at the height the efile fiasco. But, your overall wait should be dramatically reduced.

I figured low inventory meant less sales and less paperwork. It's always something, LOL. I've done four cans with CA and they were lightning quick with form submission/certification even during the initial e-file 90-day fiasco.

Cans are like potato chips, but I think I’m done. If that turns out to be a lie, I’m going to try out capital armory. I’ll just swing up there the next time I’m visting family. But, SS has all of my “deets” and that makes it hard to break up with them.

I hear you. I have my deets at both and Capitol didn't have what I wanted in stock. So checking back, I'm basically waiting on a Form 3 approval which has an average wait time of three days. Once that's done they can certify.
