is the sps varmint a good start

i got a sps varmint in .308 a couple months ago i just ordered a leupold vx-3 4.5-14x50 long range with a boone and crockett reticle, and now im looking for a stock. any seggestions on a stock that would give me the best accuracy but i can still deer and elk hunt with. thanks

its going to be a great set up. i agree with FDkay on the stock. i have personally felt that stock on a SPS already and it is rigid as hell. It is going to put some wait on it but that what you get for getting a heavy barrel. You can also get a hogue stock if you are looking for a nice hunting rifle. Keep that in mind also.

The sps is a good starter rig. The B&C light tactical is a good stock for the money as well. If you are wanting a lighter stock, look for a take off HS off of an LTR. Will shave a bit of weight. Another option is a McMillian M40 HTG. Good luck with your rig.

Depending on your budget you could go with the B&C, and for the same price as that you can get a takeoff H&S PSS stock. For a little more change you could get a non Adj manners or McM. For yet some more coin you could get the adj Manners or MCM. Then the next step would be an AICS which is even more change. Finally you get into the neat little Chassis systems like the JP and others costing even more Change.

Might post your budget and maybe the help would be a little more helpful.
