First off I'm on a budget, probably a $500 price range. I'm looking for a scope for mainly shooting benchrest style targets, but also want to try some tactical matches like woody's match. I want an SFP scope to keep the crosshairs small for shooting tiny targets but was looking for somthing with some type of MOA reticle for tactical matches. Is there any scopes around like this? Every reticle I've found that I like is in a FFP scope, and I'm worried that at high power the crosshairs will take up too much room. A lighted reticle would be good too but I think with that I'm asking too much. Right now I have a Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 with the BDC reticle for hunting, and a Sightron 36x42brd for target shooting. I like the Nikon but the crosshairs are too big for some of the stuff I shoot at, and it has very little windage adjustment. The sightron would just be terrible in a tactical match but is excellent for targets.

Any Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Vortex Viper PST is a bit beyond your price range, but they are available with SFP MOA reticles and offer a good amount of elevation adjustment.

This is what I was thinking. You might be able to get a SFP MOA for ~700-750 at either a 4-16x50 or a 6-24x50 depending on what you're looking at on mag. It will get you the illuminated reticle you're looking for. But at the 500$ price point that'd be tough to find.

Kinda wish I wouldn't have started this thread now. The scope both of you recomended is PERFECT. Now I gotta have one. Thanks Alot, I'd looked a Vortex Optics but must have missed that one somehow. Looks like I gotta save some more money or see what I can sell. Wifey ain't gonna be too happy.

You're hooked. This will happen repeatedly for the rest of your life. Start thinking now about how you will fund these purchases in the future!

Re: Is there a Target/Tactical Scope?

I have a Weaver V24 on my stock bench rifle, a Savage 12 in .22-250 which also is my rifle for my local tactical matches out to 600 yards. Not the best scope but good glass and target turrets, actually have a 2nd scope sitting in the safe that I bought from a buddy.

Re: Is there a Target/Tactical Scope?

Badger makes a ring upper half with a picatinny rail on it. I'd run those on the bottom scope, then just attach the second scope with a second set of rings on top of that.

That way you can run the two scopes you already have.

Re: Is there a Target/Tactical Scope?

LOL I bet someone has done this. You will need some real high rings to clear the turret on the bottom scope. Put another pic rail ring on the top and mount a red dot. That covers it all. Getting a good check weld may be a problem.
