Rifle Scopes Is there such thing as a high end pistol scope?

I’ll admit that I’ve become somewhat of a scope snob...this forum has been a horrible influence on me ;)

So I’ve got a new revolver that I’d like to throw a scope on, but all I’m finding is cheap stuff for the most part. Obviously this won’t be a scope that I’ll be cranking the turrets on very often if ever, but it needs to be reliable and handle the stout recoil of a 460 magnum.

Glass quality and brightness is what I’m really looking for, something comparable to my hunting rifles optics (S&B Polar T96 and a Swaro z8i). But the “best” I can find is the Leupold vx3 pistol scope. That’s a lot better than the others I’ve seen from Burris and weaver, but not really what I’m looking for.

Is there anything else on the market? Or just not enough demand for this type of thing to get most of the high end manufacturers involved in this game?

I can’t answer your question but I don’t see where glass quality would make any difference on a pistol scope. Even shitty Chinese glass looks pretty good at pistol ranges. Durability would be where it’s at.

I don’t think you are being argumentative at all, at least not in a negative way. We are just having a discussion and have differing opinions. To me a tasco .22 scope from Wal-Mart has good enough glass to do anything at 200 yards.

My brush & woods rifle (50 beowulf AR) which will likely never be shot much over 50-100 yards has a Vortex Razor HD LH on it...it’s extremely bright when the sun gets low while I’m in the woods, great contrast, and excellent clarity.

I plan on hunting and target shooting with the revolver, so I’d like to have something that offers at a minimum the same brightness and contrast as the vortex for the hunting situations.

The old Bushnell and Bausch & Lomb are great pistol scopes.
Older Burris and believe it or not, the Japan made Simmons are good too.
Nobody makes great glass for pistol scopes. Most are equal to Leupold Vari-X-II, nothing more.
