Ever since I first swapped out the picatinny for the dovetail, my bipod (it's an Atlas with the RRS lever clamp) is constantly sliding under recoil. Someone I shoot with is the same issue, so n=2. I realize there's no industry standard, but if their cuts in the chassis fore end are perfect, why aren't the dovetail adapters?!?!?!

Is your MPA dovetail for the spigot too narrow?

Edit: Besides, altering the tension to accommodate the spigot dovetail would then make it too tight if I had to move the bipod to the fore end rails during a stage

I recently bought some Ckye-pods that have a tension knob and going to try them next time I am out to see if it holds better. Not sure if the slick surface of the dovetail also contributes to the sliding compared to the cerakote of the chassis body.
I've got MPA dovetail spigots and am using RRS lever clamps (B2-40-LR) on a couple rifles. The clamp grabs hard on the chassis, but can be made to slide on the dovetail if I force it. I did a bit of custom tweaking with one clamp to make it suit my needs, and haven't had an issue with them moving under recoil on lighter calibers.
I think the issue is that the MPA spigot plate is too narrow, like you said. Mine measures 1.488 where as other RRS plates I've got measure right at 1.496-1.501. What's funny though is that the MPA chassis cut measures 1.488 too. I think that it's a geometry thing though, where some of the clamping force on the chassis is happening not just at the widest point of the cut.

@Sheldon N you are probably correct in saying the clamp grabs onto the cut rails in a slightly different location than it does the spigot. I’ve never had an issue with the clamp sliding on the fore end rails, just on the spigot. I think I’m going to try a length of tape on the edges of the spigot during my next match to see if it will give enough increased width to help since we’re only talking a few thousandths.
