    Ok,

    So I've installed dual purpose 7.62 / 5.56 reticle...

    How does it work?

It's got stadia lines, and drop compensation... But for what bullet weights, muzzle velocities, etc.

In otherwords, does any one have any knowledge of this sucker?

Re: Isreali PVS reticle usage question.

    Ok,

It's been stated that this reticle is probably 3 purposed:

    1) 5.56x45

    2) 7.62x51

    3) So sort of heavy weapon (recoilless rifle)

I suspect that the cross hair is 100m, the second dot is 200m, then 4,6, and 800ms as marked.

The interest thing is that I suspect the TOP of each verticle line is where you aim for one caliber, and the BOTTOM of each verticle line is where you aim for the other caliber.

The stadia are for moving objects at close range, probably.

The 1,2,3 horizontal lines are probably for a heavy weapon, and the stadia are for leading armor.

    That's my theory.

Question is: What do the rest of you think?

Also, which caliber is likely to be on the top or bottom of the verticle lines?

5.56 on bottom and 7.62 on top?

Re: Isreali PVS reticle usage question.

    I take it back it:

After pondering it (and looking at some basic ballistic charts)...

5.56 would SS109 would be at the top of each verticle dash.

7.62 at 150-155Gr would be at the bottom of each of the verticle dashes.

This is all load dependant... so the question would be: What did the IDF use during the time they used the PVS-4 for 7.62 and 5.56 loads?

Re: Isreali PVS reticle usage question.

Its been pointed out to me that lines 1, 2, and 3 were used for the RPG-7.

Of course, I've never heard of an RPG-7 mount for the NL-84 (new nova light version of the PVS-4).
