Need help having ejection issues with gap 10 g2 in 6.5cm. I bought this second hand and have had nothing but issues with this gun. When I received it I took it out to the range and shot it unsupressed and it kept jamming on me. I took it home and the retainer for the buffer was bent so I replaced the buffer tube and retainer because it had damage. I cleaned everything well and took it out with factory match loads 130 grain and used my suppressor with the gas turned completely off and was still locking bolt back. I'm thinking the buffer and spring may be too weak with the suppressor I was getting brass flipping around and jammed into bolt while trying to load another rounds. Damaged a few casings. Any thoughts? I included pics of spring and buffer since it has no markings. Ejector spring seems a bit weak but ejects no problem feeding single rounds.

If the gas was off the gun will not cycle. sounds like the adjustable gas block is broken or you adjusted it incorrectly. If the gun attempts to unlock too quickly before the case has time to lower the pressure on the chamber walls you could get the condition you describe if the extractor slips off the case rim while extracting.

I would try adjusting the gas block again so it will not cycle. Open it enough to lock back the bolt on one round while suppressed. give it a tad more gas and try 3 rounds.

If that doesnt work, or you cant get it to stop cycling, replace the gas block.

The other way would be to get a heavier buffer and stronger spring to slow it down. Tubb Flat wire spring should help with that some. not sure who sells heavier ar10 buffers.

other people will likely have more experience with this problem

Thanks! I think the gas block may be crapped out. I dont have much experience with gas guns I'm a bolt guy and this is exactly why. Should it be getting crap all over my bbl? Here is a pic

It could be many things, trying to diagnose is a process of elimination. First, that looks like a Seekins gas block? If so, you can't turn the gas off with a suppressor it will still allow flow. Turn the gas off non-suppressed, the rifle should fire but not cycle. If that is the result, slowly advance your gas setting to see if you can obtain proper function. If so, you can start dealing with it suppressed.

Just one screw in the front and one on the side. I am attaching several pictures all angles

Yea, that looks like a Seekin's gas block. And it looks like you have the adjustment screw all the way in. (yea, I know, duh!) So I'm really baffled as to why it is still cycling. You might take it off and see if the screw is actually closing the gas off or not. That's all I can think of, sorry. You might just need a new one.

I appreciate your help. Yeah the previous owner could have the wrong screw on it or who knows. The guy had it cerikoted and I dont think he shot it after that so whoever did the coat could have messed it up. I'm just gonna cough up some dinero and replace it. I dont like how it adjusts anyhow.

You may want to call Ken at GA Precision. I’d ask him what it would cost for them to look at it for you .

You’ll most likely save time and money with a quick call. Let them replace the gas block if it is truly messed up.

Good luck. They are great to work with.

It's been my experience that simple set screw adjustable gas blocks are hit or miss for being able to shut the gas down enough to stop gas flow completely. It's probably way over gassed. Even their 308 rifles are over gassed, and 6.5 Creed is harder to set up correctly given a gas system length that is really meant for a 308 with less gas port pressure. You can buy another adjustable gas block for not much more than it costs to ship the rifle. Worth a try.

That's what I was thinking. The guys at ga precision are hard to contact and I feel like if I did send it in I would not see it for 3 months. I may pull the trigger on the Superlative Arms it's got 30 settings and 89 bucks or the Odin works.

I don't know how much experience you have with adjustable gas blocks, but they are prone to backing out. There are several designs that have detents or secondary set screws now, worth a look. Otherwise, once you get it set where you want it at the range, screw it in and count how many turns you are, coat the hell out of it in locktite and screw it back in to where it was.

Think twice about shipping. I had a gen 1 that had cycling issues with various Ammo. I believe I spent $200 on shipping cost and Ammo for them to test the rifle. In the end they said the rifle is fine, hence why they charged me for shipping back and Ammo. While it was laser accurate, It was just finicky with Ammo type so I ended up selling it.
With regArd to turnaround they were fairly fast though, this was maybe two years ago

I'm the GAP10 smith at GA. An SLR block will most likely fix your issue. We dont even offer the seekins block anymore due to this issue. Also it is an armalite rifle length tube in case you cant get the tube out of the old gas block. Only issue is that SLR doesn't sell have a gas block with the proper set screw holes. We special order them from SLR. We will sell them if you need to upgrade.
