Are there any downsides in terms of accurracy or barrel erosion when using jackets made from spent brass?

Its my understanding that most jackets are actually brass and not so much copper anyhow.

Who here has or is practicing this method?

Re: Jackets from brass

Try the Corbins.com website. They have been selling the tools for making jackets from 22lr casings for a long time. They have a lot of info on the how-to. Hope that helps. enjoy!

Re: Jackets from brass

I did quite a bit of experimenting with this years ago. I used the Corbin 22 LR jacket maker and cast cores using the Corbin core mold. They can be made in a variety of weights and with or without exposed lead tips. They are very fragile and will disintegrate upon impact. The bottom line is the bullets are not benchrest quality and must be fired at under 3000 fps or they come apart in flight. Other than that they are a lot of fun to make and shoot. The old headstamp looks good on the base too
