Newbie here, I hope this is in the right section, if not let me know. I am looking to build (or possibly buy, I have been looking on here) my first REAL long-range accurate shooter. I've had lots of experience with a lot of different calibers but have decided on the 6.5 family. But the stock is a different story. There are so many and I don't want the standard "hunting version". I am looking at the AICS, HS, Manners and at the top of the list the JAE-700. I just wanted to see if anyone has one and what they think. I know they are pricey but are they worth it? Thanks to everyone for any and all comments.

you just mentioned a few very different stock designs. You might want to get behind some of those before actually dropping some coin on one of them sight unseen

No one has got there JAE 700 stocks yet some people put a deposit down in 09 and where told 1Q of '10 still no news really.
I would go with a manners if your doing anything other than punching paper chassis get heavy

honestly look into the KRG whiskey three and the mcree, i was really impressed with both at shot show and the guys making em were awesome to talk to and really cared about their products. I have a XLR and it is also really well made, as well as 2 AI, manners mini chassis is a excellent option too. you really won't go wrong with any of em but its all personal preference on feel.

Thanks for all the input so far. Stockdoc, that is part of my problem, where I reside there are no and I repeat no places to get my hands on these types of stocks. I have a couple friends that have B&C and I didn't really care for those(seemed to "soft"). I had a Savage M10 BAS-K .308 for a little while and accuracy was moderate at best but it did make me realize I do not want a stock platform like that. I will not rule out all aluminum stocks but probably most of them. Keep up the good ideas, and Thanks again

I will look at the whiskey three as I am not sure I've seen that one, I forgot to mention that I have considered the AI AX as well. As you can tell my frame of mind is leaning towards the "tactical" but I also and more importantly want usability. That is what I did not like about the Savage I had.

I am one of the ones on the wait for the Jae stocks to be finished and shipped out. Was told "again" that they are almost finished and will be shipping out within the month. had the thing paid in full for almost 2 years now so hoping is worth the wait. will keep things posted

The JAE was cool three years ago. I lost all desire to own one after reading about people giving money down and not having them yet.. Three years of empty promises. The plastic skins are not replaceable. They are permanently bonded to the chassis. The Kinetic Research Group Whiskey-3 chassis is pictured below. It is available for Rem 700 short action, Tikka T-3 in non magnum calibers, and folding buttstock for Sako TRG. Other models are coming including the Badger Ordnance M2008, and Rem 700 in long action. It has a ton of adjustability and has very nice machining. For more traditional composiet stocks, I like the stuff from Manners and a few of the McMillan stocks. Choose wisely.

The very similar JAE-100 has been out for years, through several revisions, and always received good reviews. They do have a backlog of orders for the JAE-700 though, so if you ordered one today I wouldn't expect it for many months to come.

I did talk with JAE last year and they said they were going to make chassis for numerous makes and models and provide one full on stock to fit the chassis system. I guess at that point it sounded like a great idea but to hear they haven't even completed their first run stocks after years of waiting the multiple gun chassis system probably won't be ready until 2020 lol. That whisky looks great! What are the ergo's like, is it comfortable to shoot from all positions and whats the cost and wait time on those?
I wonder if there is any other options for the butt stock?

I didn't say they weren't shipping them out. All I said was after years of waiting for them to complete the 1st run it will probably be years waiting for the multi-gun chassis. And without a doubt it has been years because I saw it over a year ago and I talked them last year. And you guys all blame the newbies for not reading thoroughly. lol. Hey, I love this stock, but thats why I am here, I don't know if I can wait for it and I may have to make another informed decision. Thanks for the link I did take a look and knowing they are starting to ship I may have to call and see what the time frames are. But, that just puts me back to my original question.....Are they worth the $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Ergos on the Whiskey-3 are really good. Ergonomics are very similar to both the standard TRG and especially the folding version at a much better price and argueably better construction. It is 100% CNC machined and not welded. It has a quick adust cheekpiece, adjustable length of pull, buttpad moves vertically and cants. Cheekpiece can be adjusted forward and back depending on user preferance. Buttstock can be set up for a butthook/ bagrider or with a rail for a monopod. I shoot mine prone, bench, sitting and standing. I believe the Remington 700SA and Tikka T-3 are both available for purchase.

LRK, gotcha - I misread what you wrote. Their JAE-700 turned into what some called "multi-gun" in that you can put either a short action or long action collet in it, but either way it's still a Remington 700 chassis.
Although JAE has been good about responding to emails, etc., I think they might have made a mistake showing a prototype at the Shot Show three years ago, knowing it would be a year or two before they could possibly enter production. If not for the reputation of the JAE-100, I would never have considered it...

Am I the only one who wishes the KRG W3 had an option for a traditional rear rather than the skeletal style folder? I think the TRG stock is one of the nicest looking around.. but cant stand the naked style rear on the KRG.
Oh... I have a JAE on order as they look the tits. Im not too concerned about delivery time as I dont actually have anything to put in it (thinking 6.5x47 on a Stiller action).

However, in my talks with them last year, I was considering a Savage action build and she told me that at that point they did not have anything but they were working on a Multi-gun chassis system. The way I understood it, there would be one chassis with different dimensions on the inside to accommodate different manufactures but the outer dimensions of the chassis would stay consistent and the shell/composite stock would then fit any of these chassis.
