Thoughts: although the score was low (many high hits in the 8 and 9 rings) and except for that hit at 7:00, pleased with the group.

I had one a while back... can't remember if I posted it or not, but the group was great... and it was centered to the left, so it was one of the lowest scores I have ever shot.

I have some cash saved up for a spotter. Or at least had some cash saved up (I need to wait for the dust to settle after Christmas). I am thinking about getting a Kowa to prevent those situations in the future. It happened to me in an actual tournament at 100 yards. I dropped 1 point in the first 2 stages and dropped 8 points in the last stage with a perfect group centered an inch and a half to the left... I ended up winning, but only because the second best competitor's scope crapped out on him on the last stage!

Brrrr. I got cold, and my ability to follow through fell apart, but my ability to load without breaking cheek-weld is improving. I really wanted to work my way out to 200y and try the A-21 target and a gong I built.

Re: JANUARY 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

I may have to write off posting any targets in January unless the weather starts getting better on the days I'm off. Just have to wait and see. Targets are looking good guys!

I was pretty happy with the result as it was my first time shooting this match and the wind was a pain... Can somebody confirm that I scored correctly? Thanks

Re: JANUARY 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

^ Yeah that's a 50 yard target.

That's a very decent group for shooting from 100. If you use those same holes on a 100 yard target, the score will actually be even higher.

That is a darned good target for 100. It would probably be a clean.

Re: JANUARY 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Really? Sweet! I got into a groove with the wind steady for a bit! it was stiff but consistent.

I had never shot a 25 shot group at any distance before, so thanks for the nice words. I had a 10 shot hole last weekend at 100 so i figured id give the 25 comp a try.

Going to try again next month. (correct target this time) I had a lot of fun with this and the tactical 50 yd comp. Didn't do so well on that one...

Re: JANUARY 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

FINALLY finished bedding and stock work on my MK II TR and found ammo that it likes. Shot this group after work this week. Quite pleased with the results! Need help scoring ....is it 249 or 250.

Re: JANUARY 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YD RIMFIRE COMPETITION

I just found this thread as I'm headed to the range to shoot a 4P postal match. Won't be able to get a round in for his but look forward to next month, especially the 200 and 300 yd stage. A set of wind flags would help a bunch now, but that'll be a few months before I can afford anything besides a basic piece of surveyer's tape on a stick.

I was happy to get in on this. I built my Anschutz 64 in a McMillan prone stock, with a rail and three way adj butt,so I could practice for the high power matches. I now have to say I like it more than the HP matches. I was wondering if the prone guys in these matches are all shooting "F class style" or are there some sling guys as well? Just so I can kind of rank myself.
Thanks

For the first match of 2011, this month certainly had it's weather moments across the country, causing some shooting in more extreme tempuratures / conditions, and I'm sure we all learned a little something while doing it. There where a few new shooters to the comps this month also, a big welcome to TODDCAL13 and BERGA.

Congratulations to HAPTOSHOOT, 124c41, and ERIK.300ULTRA taking top spots on their participated matches.

As we enter February, a month of the strange mixture of Presidents, Groundhogs, and love, we can certainly see that we'll be turning the corner shortly on winter.
