JLK bullets on game

Re: JLK bullets on game

I talked to steve about this very thing. He said that since they use the same j4 jacket they would perform the same.

My buddy shot a nice muley last weekend with a 168gr JLK at 434yds he said it punched a hole clean through. He got the buck. I have yet to see a berger go through an animal at those distances.

Re: JLK bullets on game

I'm going to try the 140 Berger VLDs this year on deer in a 6.5x47. (The JLKs are on order) They both use the same J4 jacket and are both VLD's. From what I've been told, the JLKs perform the same. Now I've probably been spending too much time on the internet, but I've been hearing stories of the Bergers failing to expand much. I take this with a grain of salt, because unless you retrieve your deer, you really don't know how the bullet performed. Sometimes you just have to find out for yourself.

MuleHunter,
For your Buddy, did he say if it looked like the JLK expanded at all? Or by punched a hole clean through do you mean like a FMJ?
