Well I disagree. Take rushing yards for a QB. Yes, that number is concrete but how do you judge a QB by rushing yards? I do not have to respect the guy for what he did on the field, I'm not like the rest of the Kool Aid drinkers (That is not at you) and fall for the hype.

Well if you can't see the big picture than i don't know what to say. Rushing yards for a qb is their ability to recognize when the play is broken down and make a move. The ability to extend the play. To many qb's in the nfl on 3rd an short will sit in the pocket and throw the ball away, instead of making a move when they can. It happens quite a bit. I'm not talking about designated running plays for the qb either. JM has excelent foot movement to cause miss tackles while he is scrambling.

No, the fact is I know the big picture as I am very familiar with it. Did you read all the posts in this thread? Let's talk about the "big picture". If you look at the current NFL QB who have won a super bowl, how many are "scrambling" QBs? Peyton Manning, who many argue is the best NFL QB to play the game is a horrible runner. The QBs who scramble, are QBs that many argue, leave the pocket too early to make the throws. Cam Newton hasn't even been close yet. Look at Tebow. A great scrambling QB in college, sucked ass in the NFL. At this point we haven't even addressed JM's size. Let's be honest, he's tiny. He's 5'10" MAX and maybe 180 (I know what the programs say, I also know those numbers are exaggerated). He will get CRUSHED by guys literally nearly twice his weight and nearly as fast.

AJ just got picked in the 5th round by the Bengals. Apparently the scouts did not like his arm and felt he was surrounded by greatness which exacerbated his greatness. Just like with Johnny Felony, only time will tell. But comparing the two my money would be on McCarron succeeding in the NFL. After all there are many Superbowl winners that went very low in their respective drafts.

Who's to know if this brand of QB will translate well in the NFL (think Russell Wilson). My concerns were I recruiting J-football would be his commitment
to playing vs. the lifestyle which he seems to excel at. I think a team is taking a big chance on any non-prototypical pro QB-This is a league where big-bodied passers
are the norm, not the cut and run college signal caller. An NFL defense is quantum leaps above anything these guys will ever experience at the college level.

Manning lost the Heisman in 97 because an SEC QB won it the year before. He was the best player that year but Big 10 hype won out. The only knock on Manning's college career was 0 for 3 1/2 against Spurrier and UF. I say 3 1/2 instead of 4 because he came in relief of an injured Todd Helton against UF in a 31-0 whooping at Rocky Top his freshman year.

His off field antics aren't past him, they're just getting started fueled by the new money he's getting. I doubt he'll make an entire year, but I give him 3 before he's broke selling cars.

How he was able to complete so many of those Hail Mary throws that resulted from failed plays is beyond me. He had some very talented receivers that miraculously kept his interceptions much lower than they should have been. He is great at reading the field (as a runner). His running game was helped by a large amount of missed holding calls. His offensive line was pretty good at getting away with holding as were a few other teams this season. Long story short, Manziel was successful because the A&M offense was so unorthodox. It thrived on failed plays and it took defenses a while to figure out how to defend it as oppose to normal play. None of that will exist in the NFL. He is going to have to throw the ball to receivers that are guarded by equally talented defenders. He isn't very good at that. He is going to have to run plays that are called. He isn't very good at that. If he tries that scrambling shit in the NFL, he is going to spend more time recovering than playing. IF he weren't such an arrogant little bitch, he could be developed into a mediocre quarterback. The chances of that are pretty slim. Maybe the linebackers can learn him some humility... I doubt it though.

Finally, if he's not Johnny Football, he never even gets close.
