Growing up I read most of his books and watched "Police Story" every Tuesday night.

I saw Johnny Carson interview him on the Tonight Show. Many knew his name but had never seen his face. He relayed how, after a full law enforcement career, he was speeding and got pulled over.

Embarrassed and stuttering he handed the cop his license and registration. The motor looked at the license, the name, and his face, and said, "Oh hell no." He then gave him back his docs and said. "Slow down," and sent him on his way.
