Hey everyone just got my jp abjustable block the other day and finally got around to putting it on. Instalation was easy only took a few minutes. I did buy it directly from jp so they drilled and tapped the set screw into the gas tube for me at no extra charge. The block went onto my lr 308 that had poor accuracy when I first got it. In fact I was ready to sell it but just couldnt dump a high price gun that wouldnt group well on someone else. No matter what bullet brass powder combination I tried I couldnt get 100 yard groups below 2 inchs, and the gun would cycle violently chewing up my brass with only 2 grains of powder over minimum book load nowhere near max. Well all I can say is the block seemed to fix all this. I loaded up some mild loads with varget and shot the rifle with single round mags to get the gun to cycle properly and my groups looked great. I thought maybe it was because of the single round mags so I loaded up a five shot group after I got the gun cycling right and shot a 1.5 inch group at 250 yards which was smaller then anything I could get at 100. The rifle also tamed down alot I could actually see the bullets impact the steel plate from prone position without a problem. I think with some new load development I can get this thing to be a real shooter, so if anyone is on the fence about getting one of these I say try it it worked wonders for me.

Re: jp adjustable gas block

Thanks. I have one but have not installed it yet on my LR308. Mine has shot .5" groups before with some loads I worked up so not sure if this will make mine better. It does seem to be over gassed though.

Re: jp adjustable gas block

I dont see how simply changing the gas block is going to shrink groups? I think what has happened is the driver was at fault and has learned that if you smooth out the violence of the gas system the rifle doesnt move around as much changing everything with recoil.

Re: jp adjustable gas block

Yeah I agree the smaller groups probably has more to do with the rifle running smoother it just seems alot easier to shoot if that makes sense. I have also done more load development today and was able to up the charge a grain and a half more then what I was able to before and hit an accuracy node there. I turned out better groups today then ever before with this rifle. If I had ran those loads before the case rims would have been bent so bad I wouldn't have reloaded them. I also read a few posts on here saying that the bolt can pull on the case while the bullet is in the barrel if a semi is overgassed causing poor accuracy, but I don't know wether to believe that or not all I know is that it helped my performance alot. This dpms is becoming my new favorite rifle.

Re: jp adjustable gas block

Funny I put together a DPMS style gun with a Kreiger 1:11 24" White Oak barrel I used a DPMS gas block and it would not hold 2" consistently. I changed the upper, bolt, a new barrel nothing worked!! I got a JP Adjustable gas block. Installed....now .6" 5 shots groups.

Coincidence? Don't care rifle was driving nuts!

It's shooting MUCH better and I like it.

I've had similar accuracy problems with my AR10-T. It shoots the low pressure 168gr FGGM OK (about 1" @100yds) but it doesn't matter what load I try 2" groups are about normal. I also can't get anywhere near a max load before I get violent cycling of the bolt and flat primers. And the faster burning powders makes the problem worse.

Does anyone know of any other makers of adjustable gas blocks besides JP?
