If this has been asked before I apologize. I am looking into getting a long range semi auto to go to 1000 or so yards. I am pretty much settled on .260 rem and also on spending the money to do it right. So what are the advantages/disadvantages of both the JP LRP07 and the GAP 10? Any preferences and why? From doing the cost analysis the JP is around 500-600 more than the GAP 10 with my options and preferences which at this price point is negligible. One thing I am concerned with is tat JP does not offer the Gisselle trigger and the gap does, so if you have any experience with the JP trigger let me know. Thanks for the advice.

Hmmm... I have a GAP, but I've shot the LRP and I was equally impressed. Are you going to run it with a can? If so I'm gonna have to say I'd go with the LRP since you can use the side charger with a gas shut-off and in essence run it like a bolt. Both are nice though and you can't go wrong no matter which one you choose.

I have had two jp lrp-07 308 and they were very accurate . mine shot and i still own one and it shoots 1/2 moa or better at 100 and 3/4 moa or better out to six hundred
Trigger was great but I did put in the yellow springs and had zero problem with lite strikes .
I have not owned a gap 10 but several of there bolt guns and they are Top notch ,
If I wasn't concerned with weight of the gun I'd probably give GA the edge at 1000 yrd from what I've seen
But I will say JP is a pretty lite gun and very accurate .

The JP triggers are the best single-stage AR triggers, while the Geisseles are the best 2-stage. All about preference wen choosing there. They're both durable triggers as well. You have to take into account the LRP-07 will be about 2lbs lighter than the GAP-10, big difference there.

I put a JP EZ trigger in my LR-308 I put together. I love the trigger, I have never experienced a Geissele but I'd really like too see what all the rave is about those.
I also used JP match barrel, gas block & complete BCG & I'm pretty happy with it.

You would be hard pressed to find any unhappy customers in either camp. Products and service from both JP and GAP are top notch.
It is probably one of the few times it really comes down to looks and the small details that you prefer.

I've owned an LRP-07H since 2010, and it is by far the sweetest, most accurate semi-auto .308 I've shot. It easily produces 1/2 MOA with the right ammo, optic and shooter input.
The rifle is well balanced, light for its class and produces almost no felt recoil.

I agree with Mil.Dot GAP customer service is the best I've ever had, they are willing to help or fix anything. Sometimes free of charge which is really hard to find nowadays.

I have the JP, only about 200 rds through it. The trigger is great, routinely shoots better than I can hold. The only issue that I have had: it likes to be WELL lubricated. If you fire more than 30 or 40 rds, stop and lube it. The tolerances are so tight that it will have a hard time closing up and you get some light primer strikes. Then you try to pull the charging handle and wow is it tight.

I'd give JP the edge for being more of a work of art, almost like a Rolex. It just flat out feels good to shoot. It needs more care and does not like to be dirty. I clean mine after every competition or trip to the range. I love my JP Triggers. If you can get used to shooting a single stage on an AR, I believe they are the best.
Both are laser accurate and are great companies to do business with, you'll be happy with either choice.

What lube are you using? I use Fireclean on mine and have not had any problems like that. I routinely shoot a couple hundred rounds per session and I've not experienced anything like that. I do run it wet, much wetter than a "battle rifle", but it sounds like you may have something else going on.

I have been meaning to try out some other lubes, I have been using M pro 7. The rifle operates flawlessly as long as you keep it lubed up. I will look into the Fireclean, the M pro is quite thin, was going to see if i can find something a bit more viscus that wont get thrown off so fast.

I have a couple years experience with the JP and I would strongly recommend it. Although the GAP-10s are great gas guns you will wait far longer for them. If it were me I would go with the JP. If you dont like the trigger (which is really nice) then you could pull it out sell it and buy a Gisselle but I bet you will like it.
JP is aware of the current political climate and if there is a change for the worse it is my understanding he will get out lowers to people on the wait list so they will not have trouble getting their guns.

I'm in the process of ordering both. Not sure which one I'll get first. I'll just be happy to get either of them at this point, but at least I'll proceed with the orders and hope for the best. From what they've told me it does appear the build time is less than 12 months, but we'll see.

PRSCustom I don't know if you bought your rifle yet and if you have not then I will tell you that the JP Trigger is just as good or even better than a Geiselle Trigger. Both are among the best, the GAP-10 is also a very fine rifle in its own right. I can tell you one thing for sure and that is the LRP-07 is one of the LIGHTEST RIFLES that you can get, mine weighs with Swarovski Z6i scope ( 10.0lbs ), and it is also one of the LEAST RECOILING RIFLES you will ever shoot. With my JP recoil reducer and its LOW MASS SYSTEM it feels like a .223

I have never shot a GAP10 but they do look pretty sweet. I do however have an LRP-07 in .308. Ive had it for about a year and can say it really is a work of art. Every time I take it to the range people come over to me and ask about it. Its dead nut accurate with FGMM168's. The customer service at JP is top notch as are all their products. I highly recommend them.

the 123 Scenars shoot well to 800
I am going to try out some 139 Scenars next time I make it up to Thunder Valley
I used to own a Gap 10 in .308 and accuracy (at least in my hands) is a wash between the rifles.
The side-charger did it for me.....the Silent Capture Spring is also a nice touch. It's a soft shooter.
