I just registered for the safety class on the 24th.
A couple of my buddies did the first class on Saturday evening.
I've been chomping at the bit for it to open. It's a 15 minute drive for me. ??

New 2000 yard range spinning up just east of Tampa next month (if they keep on time). Been in the hopper forever.
I'll distribute the beer at the front entrance... And scan the temperatures of everyone arriving...
It's in case someone needs "a bit more testing".
The first group fired something like 7+7 rounds.
Hell, I want to shoot more than 14 rounds.
Did you end up getting in the first 300? I wasn't sure how fast it would go, but they made a post on social face to a guy whom they said would go on the 2nd round of sign ups so they capped the initial membership. Got an email last night they reopened the certification class. Getting pretty excited for May!

I did. Just deciding if I wanna be out in a classroom and indoor range right now for a 30 min training class.....I'll probably wait to hear when they've actually got an opening date before rescheduling.
It will be good that you guys on the west coast get a place that you can shoot.

You mean the May 2nd projected opening date or just wait until they are definitely open with people shooting? If you have not signed in and secured your desired membership level with CC# I'd encourage you to inquire with JTAC b/c I don't think a slot is secured until you do.

Membership is already locked and CC provided. I'm just not rushing taking the training class.

I tried to get in and the email I received back a couple weeks ago stated that all the slots were taken but they had me on a list for the second round. I hope they remember me. I don't, and won't, do FaceBook.
We actually talked about night hog hunts quite a bit so hold on to that smoker idea. TBC! Your phone keeps rolling into voicemail no rings dangit!

Well darn that's probably a little far for spur of the moment trips. I'll do my best to remember to hit this thread when the gates open at JTAC. The guys running the day to day operations are really cool I am anticipating great times there.
Thanks for the thought. It's not that far. We go to Shooters World in Tampa every couple weeks, the staff is great. We don't care for the one that is closer in The Villages. I found out about JTAC a little late so I really hope I get a chance on the second round. It looks like a great facility and I really want to start working on the distance. I have a lot to learn. Enjoy yourself.
That's why I bumped this thread. All of us that jumped through the hoops to get signed up for the place are in the dark on an opening date. Frigging communists and their flu.
This is the only thing that would make me want to go back to Florida.

LOL. Yeah, this post hasn't aged well. Frustration really setting in for me on this one. I Emailed them a few weeks ago asking for SOME kind of tangible update and got the worst response possible: " Thanks for contacting us. We will be in touch with you soon. " WTF.
I also realized the precision membership doesn't get you access to the tower. What the fuck!?!?! That tower is there specifically for the long range precision shooters.
FYI - Manatee Gun and Archery is working on some serious changes including a range with electronic targets, bringing the 1000 yard back, and having a variable known distance steel range. Keep an eye on those guys. You've already got pistol, 100-300 yard, 630 yard, and 5-stand shotgun, bench rest competitions, and three gun every month, all far cheaper than JTAC.
Yep, that's why for $200 a year I'm still a member there as well as the WAC in Pinellas. I literally just found a post on another website announcing the opening, from Feb. 2016. I will probably die of old age at this rate. I thought the tower would not be open for general use yet for liability reasons but this whole thing is starting to age like fish...
I have known of and followed JTAC since it was announced 4 or was it 5 years ago now. I gave up following or caring about that place long time ago. If they ever do open and that’s a big if, maybe I’ll check the place out. With their current track record. I wouldn’t expect them to open till sometime in 2022. For those new to following JTAC, this is their mo. News to come out next month turns in nothing for a year. I was one of the first sign ups and could never get a response. Signed up again, got one email form them, then nothing again, and now their price list. $340.00 for member plus training fees to only shoot 5 times annually. Add to that to bring the wife is a additional $38.00 per entry.....
For full range access it’s $1240.00 and you have to pay for additional training courses before you can even use that. Sorry, but fuck that. You can joint a tier 1 golfing club and be waited on for less than that. Plus we’re not talking about a facility with a known track record here either.
Now I understand things cost money, but we’re taking about a open field here and shooting bullets into the dirt. It’s not like a full staffed club house with manicured lawns and caddy’s. Altus Shooting only charges $150.00 for your train up and then it’s $540.00 annually for full access.
